Once, yes that could be considered a fluke. Twice, well then you have to think maybe the kid belongs. After finishing last in the first six rounds, Sherco USA mounted trial pilot Patrick Smage matched his round seven performance with another national victory. His second in as many days. As Patrick said after the event, "I wish we started the season this weekend! This is just awesome."

The other riders were shaking their heads wondering what just happened. They will have all winter to think about it.

Cody Webb finished second. In doing so he captured the season ending number 2 plate over Sherco USA teammate Bruce leRiche. After the event Bruce told Team Sherco bosses he was switching to Gas Gas for the 2007 season. Bruce will be sporting the number 3 plate.

Speaking of number plates, with his two national wins this weekend, Patrick Smage moved up in the season standings from seventh to fifth place, passing both Keith Wineland and Brent leRiche.

In the Expert class Deigo Ordonez won his first event besting Daike Watanbe for second with Jason Carpenter from Kansas finishing third. Ron Commo III finished fourth and Canada's Maxine Gobeil finishing fifth.

I have a flight to catch. I'll give you the sight's and sound's of the weekend when I return home.
