    07 Gasgas 250

Hi, Getting back into trials for the winter as there will not be much stunting with weather and want to improve my balance/control. Have a choice of three, gasgas 250 2007 model, a good box of spare plastics and road reg stuff. very clean. going for around €1500, or an 03 Sherco 290, says its clean for €1100 and no spares, and a clean 09 sherco but its out of my budget. Had an 04 290 sherco before and loved it. What are the 07 250 gg's like? anything to look out for? Cheers!!
  3. i am just after having to do the same job on the 250. the bushes were actually well stuck inside the tube. some handlin getting them out. I replaced all 6 bushes and the cheapest place i found was the Irish Sherco Main Dealer suprisingly enough.
  4. You must be bored alot to be that good!! I wish I was that bored!
  5. Done the fork seals on the Sherco during week and turns out the bushes were all worn so ordered new ones. . . . wont have em until next week! So got bored!

    Tranny oil

Hmm. .... Not good I suppose.so what's the best course of action? Split the cases and see if the lack of oil has done any damage? And order new crankseals . What would cause the crank seals to go?

    Tranny oil

Hi all, Giving the 250 a good service.dropped the transmission oil thereabd just under 200 ml came out . . . . I changed it about 6 months or so ago and put in 450 ml, what would be the norm you would get out when dropping the oil ??? There is no leaks on cases or has there ever been. I have been getting some clicking noises recently when dropping gears that go in sync with the engine noise , just put new chain and sprockets on and was wanting to rule that out but could it be something to do with the oil situation? Cheers all
  8. great quality from it.look forward to the next one!
  9. i think the music fits it well!im not into r&b that much but it ties in well with the vid.and yes you will never please everyone with the music! i just got an iphone and wouldnt have thought the vid quality would be that good.what editing software did you use?il have to start using the iphone instead of the normal cam for vids now!! excellent riding aswel!!
  10. I got it back on by outting in the two bottom ones loosely, then using ratchet straps and clamps to align the front holes, then just slot the bolts in..the bolts might be under a bit of stress but its the best i could get it!!!now all i gotta do is start hitting it of rocks!!!!or not if i was any good!!!
  11. yep, both at same time, then used a long bush and pressed the bearings in from each side with the bush in place so they would be aligned right
  12. I think 'the persuader' will be getting to know my bash plate very well for this one http://www.google.ie/imgres?imgurl=http://media.rei.com/media/674917Lrg.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.gear.com/p/coghlans-rubber-tent-peg-mallet-stake-puller&usg=__-UxreruBcOc6hXgNJ2_N14SzGog=&h=440&w=440&sz=10&hl=en&start=0&sig2=cpN0QeKVSUz9ONhd25TyMw&zoom=1&tbnid=dG-YbAu98vMUTM:&tbnh=131&tbnw=140&ei=qXjeTdmXLseIhQfG5pDFCg&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dmallet%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1024%26bih%3D574%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=594&page=1&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:0&tx=35&ty=92&biw=1024&bih=574
  13. I tried it with the front bolts in and ratchting the bike but wasnt lining up, will try fitting the rear ones first then clamping thefront.Jesus they are tight to put it!!!
  14. I took the bash plate off when I was giving th bike a complete going over, had the bike on the lift and swingarm out so said i might aswell. Coming off it sene lik it was under a right bit of stress, as if it was bent round then bolts put on. Is there any knack or trick to getting them back on? Cheers
  15. Sorry for the crude drawing of the swingarm but it was only done quick!! Just a simple pusher about .1mm narrower that the bearing outer race and .1mm narrower than the bearing inner race. Either use a press or hammer to push em out
  16. ha i never took any when i was doing it!!sorry! i can draw something up on solidworks handy enough to show you if you like!??

    Mod or Change?

I went on a school day not too long ago,and one of he instructors who used to be airly competitive in Ireland was on a 03 sherco, He reckoned it was more than enough to compete with the newer ones. Newer might be a bit lighter but look at what the lads 20 years ago coud do with those bikes!!!and im sure they were a lot heavier and rougher than anything from 00 up Id say stick with it and work on skill level. I bought an 04 sherco at xmas and id say I will have it for a long time, fecking love it!
  18. I have just had to do all the linkage bearings on the 250, they were in a bad state of affair. The swingarm linkage ones had collapsed and all that was left of them was the outer race. Trie prising out wit sockets, and the rawl bolt method but no luck. Took the arm off to get at it better but still no luck. So just turned up a piece of aluminium the right size ot the outer race and the right size of the inner race so it was centrally located and whack out with a hammer. . . ! hey presto, Bobs your mothers brother Bike also feelsmuch better with all bearings replaced!
  19. Cheers for the tips, I think im working too much through my arms instead of throwing my back . . . well . . back!!! Practice and lots of it me thinks is needed!!! I have promised myself im gonna get the knack of it by end of summer!!!
  20. Want to learn hopping the front wheel. Have watched the vids and get how you compress the front suspension and work with it on the way back up. . . but whenever i try to stop and balance and try I always loose balance I can balance on the bike in the shed with engine off with the front wheel turned about 45degrees but cant when its straight. . . Any tips on how to learn hopping or should I go back to trying to balance with front wheel straight? I was told that hopping helps balancing and vice versa so they compliment each other was thinking about getting someone to hold the bike steady while I try hopping. . .

    Fully Synthetic

Thats the 2nd bike ive bought that when i check them they fell to pieces!!! (and ive only bought 2 trials bikes!!!) Guess alot of people overlook them
  22. tayto94

    Fully Synthetic

Cheers Neo, It wasnt so much as a theory, just a thought. but the jets seem to have fixed my problem. I think I will stay on fully synthetic as its been recommended many times and quality wise its better in the long run On another note, gave the bike a going over, trannie oil changed, went to repack the dog bone linkages, bearings fell to pieces!!! think its time for a change!!!

    Fully Synthetic

seems to be fixed now. whipped the carb out andran through the jets again. dont think i got the main one right the last time. Took it for a good burn and the exhaust wa rightly smoking! id say from running the mix a bit rich there a good bit to bur off in there. will have to give it another good few hard runs to get rid of it
  24. tayto94

    Fully Synthetic

Right, so just after taking the sherco for a bit of a run there now. Had the jets all cleaned and changed the mix to 80:1 The boggy feeling when you snap the throttle open from idle is still there abit. But now when i go for a higher speed run as it gets up th revs it completely bogs,it is not as bad i i back of the throttle but still there. . . Should i strip the carb again or am i missing something? Also noticed that a bit of fluid is coming out of the crankcase breather. just a drip any ideas?

    Fully Synthetic

Too the carb off at the weekend. Outside exhast side was completely covered up with gunk.stripped and cleaned jets and got rid of all gunk of outside. Put back together and removed petrol mixed at 65:1. Didnt get a chance to get her started up yet. Got my workshed and bikelift sorted last weekend so going to give it a good going over this weekend - bearings, fluids, etc as hasnt been done since i got it. will let ye know how it perorms after
