  1. Agree, thanks to Bill and all the officials for cracking trial. Another thank you for a decission made by Team Fantic to not share rooms on the second night like in a Travel Lodge and myself being subjected to an impression of a Husqvarna two-stroke chainsaw having its carb tuned at 100db throughout the whole night.
  2. black tank white side panels.
  3. Looking good..... All thats needed now is some Team Fantic t-shirts. Sorted the front brake the cam was not releasing. Will have another look at the rear shocks the rebound is a little to bouncy. What rear shocks have you fitted and springs?

This thread was closed some time ago but i'd like open it up again and ask for some setup details of the 300 brake plate. Setup: 1) To centralise the brake shoes on a 300 brake plate first undo the lock nut on the brake plate. Next apply the front brake and whilst doing this tighten the lock nut. 2) Undo the lock nut and ride the bike with the lock nut undone. The two above examples have been tried by me on my 240 which is fitted with a 300 brake plate. The problem with setup 1, is the brake isn't any better than slightly modified standard 240 brake plate. setup 2 makes a massive difference and works brilliantly. However the cam on the 300 brake plate moves forward and stays partly forward when the brake has been applied, so your then riding with the front brake slightly on which is not good. Are the setup points above correct 1 and 2? I've been looking at the cam on the 300 brake plate and think that a rubber insert to push the cam back into its full realease position could be a way of riding with the lock nut undone all the time. Any views or knowledge on this? my brake plate cost less than £50 about 1-2yrs ago
  5. Your going big with a 263cc i'm still standard at 212cc. Hey, some fancy language there Lee (Offset ground crank pin) that kinda talk is pornographic...lol. So what size carby? You now the saying "the bigger carby the bigger the riders......"..lol So now yours is bigger than mine, if your interested, i fired my small bore Fantic up today. All is okay so far she's reving nicely and ticks over. first ride tomorrow at a practise day. had a brief ride in my back garden and it didn't fall to bits. I've fitted some 1970's 7.5inch bars so no more fat bars. 300 brake plate with new shoes and a new seat. The seat is fitted without welding the frame because i don't have a welder. 243 forks and yokes and 243 electrics, lots of changes from what it was perhaps too many changes i should have done one at a time. Tomorrow's ride is important! The wife recons its looks nice but said i should get a gold muffler to go with the gold rims! The most important information for you to know is i've used not one but 'Two' cans of Halford's finest aerasol spray and if you don't get both your wheels sorted you'll be buying all the drinks Friday night!. So now you know what i've done i'll be expecting a very trick and well sorted Fantic from you old chap because i'm no engineer and i've got chocolate spanners....lol
  6. Thanks. Madras! Vindaloo for you your not sitting the whole weekend end...lol. Waterloo is booked. Should i go for the bling and get the gold rims fitted seeing as your going all repsol.
  7. I havn't seen this topic but if it has already been posted my apologises. My opening gambit commences with three questions below. One rule to this thread please 'No bashing honest replies'. Pictures would be great of your British/Twinshock bikes and any helpful bike set up tips for me especially...lol. Sorry no pics of my bike its in bits i'm setting about if with some halfords spray cans at the moment and not doing to gooda job. I'm riding a Fantic 240 Q: What weight of fork oil (or type of oil) do you recommend to prevent agreesive rebound on a set of 1980's 35mm zocchi forks? Q: How do you remove head race bearings? Q: What flywheel weights are best used on rocks i've two to bolt to the flywheel?
  8. Them bar risers look a little high you could try some 7.5inch bars i've seen some sell on ebay for a reasonable price. Nice 200 keep up the good work, or ideas...lol
  9. So Arnold is the man, obviously very talented so he can ride the sections first to keep things fair. Are you riding Star Route this year? I'd like to post a photo or two but unfortunately the bike is in bits and this weekend i'm racing an enduro, so my focus is prepping the enduro bike. Next Saturday i'll have some time spare thou. Would you happen to know the manufacturers piston to bore clearance tolerance on a 212cc engine i've three pistons but not sure which one to fit? The engine was raising between 12-14mm. The clearance allows a 16th of an inch rubber spacer to sit between the bottom of the magneto casing and frame. The engine raise was more of a case of lifting the engine until the case cleared insert the rubber spacer and then mark that position for modifying the standard front engine brackets because of the tilt. If you bring along to Exmoor a standard set of 240 front engine brackets i'll remove my modified brackets for you to measure. The exhaust is a little more complex with two cuts one permanant the other for positioning. Bring your camera for that and some spanners if your really interested. Call me or facebook me the accomadation for what your arranging. Once the engine is done its time to move onto the suspension and brakes, so lots to do.
  10. Its good to read the pro German riders will be competing at Exmoor and Gerd is riding an all new Fantic special called a 340. Gerd had a better result than me the other year. This is definately not a big deal for me i am 10 years older than Gerd and his 240 was far more advanced than mine. I'm not the kind of person that goes on about this as you know, we all ride for fun not to beat each other and I wasn't well the other year. I think I had a problem with me leg and my 240 wasn't 100%. I'm really not that interested in what Gerd's riding you know I was just a little surprised in a good way that he's riding a better bike for this years even. The 340 bikes spec and tyres are normal I suspect do you know what they are? Not to worry if you don't. Perhaps a few drinks the night before, Gerd likes a good drink this should relax him before the first days ride. Exmoor is only a fun trial and i'm still putting my bike together. Those links go to a German website that asks for registration.
  11. Just to be different i've raised my 243 donor engine in my 240 chassis. Its taken two guys working for 3hours cutting and welding. The exhaust is modified so are the front engine brackets. The carb lines up better with the standard air box rubber, better than standard and i can remove the exhaust without having to remove the cylinder head. These ideas are all from the 243 setup, which is an excellent donor bike. Now what i want to know is what is Gerd riding at Exmoor Lee?
  12. Just so that i understand the reason behind the 300 mag cover fitting a 240 is because the newer Ducati ignition system off say a 1989 243 can be used on a 240. The flywheel and weight from a 243 (212 cc engine) will be to large to fit inside the 300 magneto cover I think? So, Lee are suppling only the cover, or are you suppling the flywheel machined by a return post if the customer sends a flywheel? If i'm completely wrong my apologises Lee. For those riding Exmoor, see you there i'm riding 'Star Route' and this year i'm looking to loose a few less marks than i did a couple of years back. These Fantic's are becoming quite trick pieces of kit another upgrade to mine is coming only to show it off at Exmoor.....although this doesn't mean it would ever work as half as good as your stuff Lee.
