  1. Hi, I have a Alpina 350cc M138. I have recently drained my gearbox oil. I have the Hugh's Manual and it specifies to use SAE 90. I was wondering what you use and recommend? Also, I am using SAE 30 for clutch oil, good?
  2. Hey guys, Finally figured out my rear lighting issue. Washed the bike up and now its ready to attempt road use in Southern Ontario with a New Brunswick plate. Here it is!

    Tail Light Bulb

The bulb I currently have has one filament thus one contact on the bulb. As for the light socket, it only has one tab, I believe it is intended for one or two contacts on the bulb, the latter being parallel and both would contact the tab simultaneously. Is that an electrically correct statement? I must say I am terrible with electrical engineering; I've taken the engineering entry level electrical course 4 times .
  4. Woody you were right on.. the ball was missing!

    Tail Light Bulb

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me more specs of the Tail Light Bulb (Part No. 26.21-047) used on a 421-048 style tail light. I currently have a single filament bulb. The only time I can make the bulb light up is when I close the hi-beam switch. I am wondering if it is supposed to be a 2-filament bulb. If possible, can you give me a more commercial part number rather than a Bultaco serial number for the proper bulb. If the part numbers referenced above are not factory part numbers then reference the Bultaco.com website and service manual for details. Thanks
  6. I'm putting together the clutch basket on a '75 Alpina 350 (model 138). I am cross referencing two documents. The Hugh's Bultaco 5 Speed Bultaco Service Manual and the factory Bultaco Parts List Catalogue. None indicate the amount of plates I am supposed to install in the clutch basket (tabbed on OD and non-tabbed). I currently have 6 tabbed plates and 7 non-tabbed plates. Is that too many? What is indicating this concern is the Hugh's Service Manual. The manual shoes 4 tabbed and 4 non tabbed. *help* There are also two conflicting diagrams which show two different assemblies. One shows that the first plate to go in the basket is a non-tabbed and another schematic demonstrates a tabbed one to go in the basket first. Clarification needed! Also which do I end with? Are there supposed to be the same amount of each plate type in the basket?
  7. I am having difficulties getting the cluch to properly respond to the clutch lever. Long Winded explination, please bear with me: Clutch lever will not disengage cluch plates. If I pull on the lever, the bike stays in gear, cannot push bike. I tried to adjust the adjustment screw and nut. What I was able to get was enough preload on the clutch diaphram to be able to pull the lever to disengage the cluch plates (only slightly) but when I went to install the adjustment screw nut, there was no thread left on adjustment screw to allow the nut to be fitted on the screw. I'm thinking this would not be acceptable as this would indicate that there is too much pre-load on clutch diaphram. Another indication of overload on diaphram, is when adjusting the screw to the preferrable setting mentioned above, I was less that 1/4 turn to having the clutch plates disengaged even when in gear. (i.e. I was able to push the bike as if it was in neutral, with minor additional friction, when the bike was in gear). What is going on!? Is my cable the incorrect one? Is it too long? Or is my clutch stack height too thin? What is the stock length of a clutch cable on a '75 Alpina 350? What is the proper stack height?
  8. Hi, I bought my first Bultaco last fall in New Brunswick, Canada. I've since relcated to Toronto along with my Alpina 350 (M183). Hoping to get some street riding with it this year. Unfortunately, street is the most common access in suberbia +
