  1. just checked the rider list on sidcups website, no Mr spud seems to have entered. shame that, good trial with three routes, something for all pre65s.
  2. ON the mark2 MAR and onwards, the sump guard was held with 8mm bolts, readily available and an easy change for you. 7mm bolts are to be found on those motorless bicycle contraptions that have become popular of late.
  3. It is a triumph twin, Vincent Michel of Belgium.
  4. the lining is not oil and grease proof. it is designed to operate a low speed and low temperature. try bringing a drum braked trials bike to a halt quickly from road speed and feel the brake fade!
  5. I expect the gecko is a tubeless tyre so it will not fit the tube type rim properly. you cant mix tubed and tubeless without problems!
  6. Being a 48 yours is the change over year. Is it alloy or iron headed? To be honest I wouldn't know if you get one to fit an iron head. It takes more than an alloy barrel to make a trials bike, get the gearing and handling sorted first, then start to make weight savings.
  7. the alfin barrel, as opposed to an alloy barrel, was an after market item that replaced the iron barrel. They were flanged mounted to the crankcases, using the four studs. the alloy barrelled comp motor have long studs through to the head to fix them. The stud configuration is different but can be made to fit but not easily. Iron heads were pre 1948 I think. I have been around A.M.Cs literally all my 58 years but have never seen a bronze head on one.
  8. They are still being made, look up greeves motorcycles ltd.
  9. At the throttle opening you describe you are above the pilot jet region and well below main jet. This 1/8 to 1/4 area is controlled by the needle, needle jet and throttle slide cut away. you could try moving needle up or down depending if you think it is rich or weak. (you don't say which you think it is). If you search Mikuni vm26, then click on vm "round slide" tuning manual, there is hours of fine reading! cheers stan.
  10. hi Columbus, I don't know the answer to your question. but I suggest you re-post it in the pre-65 section of the marques listing further down. it will picked up by those that do know there. regards stan.
  11. The 19inch has the same diameter as the 18inch. the tread pattern is different. the tread depth is only 3/8inch. the side walls are hard. they don't grip! if you want grip you need to go to 18inch.
  12. The front wheel, and therefore the fork legs ,are in back to front. the foot rests have been altered. you would not bother doing that to a garage queen. As for sump guard not being scratched, there is plenty of metal to polish scratches out on an OSSA guard.
  13. you will struggle to get trials tyres in that size.
  14. you said you had to shim it because of the thicker gasket, which is quite right. just make sure all gears select cleanly . adding any goo, once it has dried your shimming may have gone awry.
  15. look for the secondary jet hidden above the long pilot jet that sits in the corner of the float chamber.
  16. Hi Dante, put your question further down the forums where all the machine marques are listed. put in pre 65 section.you will get help there. regards stan.
  17. try westfieldfasteners.co.uk as few or as many as you need.
  18. moorland blue is the right colour and name. still available. can I name the supplier?
  19. I had some made, will pm you the details.
  20. I have retro fitted two of these without any problems. has the valve seat in float chamber been drill to adjust float level in the past?? the seat should be just under 15mm from the gasket face. if it is much more turn it upside down and tap the brass seat bush up a bit with a 1/8inch drift.
  21. what do you mean by that???????????
  22. if you have enough brake drum left to skim it, BLR engineering in wallington, surrey, can skim it complete. it must have a tyre on, but mx or enduro type tyres wont work. after which you can use oversize linings to suit.
  23. I should have pointed out to alter float level with the new style floats simply tweak the metal tang in the appropriate direction.
