  1. Are new ones available in SS or chrome ? Or should I get the original re-chromed ?
  2. My '74 Mar is really, really difficult to start from cold. Lots of kicking, plug heating and tickling it eventually fires and runs. There's no 'almost starting' - the penultimate kick is no different from the previous 20 (or 30). When it's warm it runs and ticks over fine and will re-start first time but leave it a few hours, let alone days, I'm back thinking of selling ! Current plug is an NGK BP5ES Any ideas ?
  3. Well, the lock was fairly easy to drill and then tap out. Looks like a generic type used in Bultacos, Vespas and others of the period. Fairly easily available but with a considerable range of prices ! I'm on the case....
  4. Good point, but sometimes I just like to go for a ride on the roads. If I stop for a coffee or visit a friend I would like to be able to lock the bike.
  5. Wow, 163 views and no answer yet.........!
  6. Seems to be the day for Mar questions.. So, I don't have a key for the steering lock. How do I remove the barrel ? Then, if I do get it out, are replacements available ??
  7. Bike had a new exhaust system fitted by the previous owner and has not done many miles since. The middle silencer touches a straight edge held against the frame let alone the brackets which are approx 10mm further in I'm not sure I want to start beating it in-situ so it looks like some dismantling is required.

    Blistering Paint

I have a problem with the tool-box panel on my Ossa Mar. It clearly becomes hot from the exhaust pipe behind it and the paint keeps blistering. I have smoothed it down and re-painted and wrapped some heat deflector material around the pipe but after a short run it's as bad as before. Does anyone have a solution ??

    Mar Gearbox Oil

Sounds good, but I have a leak and don't have time for a strip-down until the winter. Meantime I need to top-up !

    Mar Gearbox Oil

Thanks for your reply, but I cannot find it. I know that to fill the gearbox you remove the small pressed aluminium plate with the Ossa logo. Is there a separate level plug or do I fill to just overflowing ?

    Mar Gearbox Oil

Help, please. Where's the level-plug and which oil is recommended ?
  13. Morning. Thanks for your response. Does anyone know if there is any difference between the 250 and 350 frames ??
  14. I have purchased a bike listed as an OSSA MAR 250 1975 Documents confirm this. Engine number also correct - M222.... However, frame number is B241... which appears to be for a MAR 350. Any thoughts ??
