  1. Its a single needle version and I've never binned owt in mi life.I've got toe nail clippings from 1954 lol.
  2. Thats a facinating vidio spen ,although I cant make out the dialogue.I sometimes have daft projects. My latest one is a Wimshurst machine invented in the 1870s(google it).It makes long high voltage sparks.I think Dr Frankenstien used one to bring his monster to life.I might use it on the missis.
  3. Yeah,Iv'e put new alloy mudguards back on.They were flippin expensive as well.
  4. Thats a brill photo of it Spen, thanks. You can even see the welding on the swinging arm that I was on about. Is it from when you had it,or Mick?
  5. Thanks for all the info Spen,I didn't realize I was talking to such a prestigious person untill I looked you up on your website. All credit due to you.I havn't been into road racing too much, although I did follow the progress of the late Steve Henshaw whom I knew very well ,as he lived a few doors away from me on Barrows hill lane,Westwood. In fact I sold him a Villiers engined Sprite trials bike to help pay for the Ossa.He later had a Greeves Scottish and a brand new Bultaco Sherpa. His family and everyone else were devastated when he was killed.I also knew John Newbold from the next village,Jacksdale who was also tragicaly killed. Regards John.
  6. Thanks Spen, you are a mine of information.I just can't believe than I have a colour photo of the bike with the man himself sat on it.I'm over the moon.I've just been out to the shed to give it friendly rub over and tell it all that has happened.Even though I've recovered the seat,Ive still got that piece of green fablon hanging up in the shed,I cant bear to get rid of it.I've even saved the old seals and bearings which I replaced. Thanks again Spen.
  7. Hi Spen, thanks for your interest.I must say that I am in awe of your powers of recall after 40 odd years.BRA 270L,thats the baby.Or could it be a "man thing" and BRA prompted for memory? lol. I knew it had been registed in Spain but had no idea that Mick had used it for hill climbing in the U.S.A. which might explain why the swing arm has a slight extention neatly welded on.It could also explain why I kept falling off it on naggery sections, although that was more probably due to my lack of skill.Anyway, the bike is now running and revs like a goodun despite the naff IRZ carb.I've just got to spray the tank/seat unit if I can find the right orange colour.I'll post a pic on the forum when I've completed it.Thanks for your information Spen, you are a legend.
  8. "Triggers brush" Ive just googled it.Ive wet myself with laughing, but thats not unusual.I am quite old you know.
  9. Thanks sparks, that nails it then I do not own the 1972 bike nor the 70 bike because the 70 bike has the old style ossa logo on the magneto cover and mine has the present one.Although it could have been changed due to breakage(as they do).Mine has the bottom frame rail in place and old sump guard. It also has 2 coils ,2 plugs and 2 feeds from the mag.It is orange with a white stripe.I have obtained a copy of a May 1972 MCM.In it is an article by Mick and and a picture of his 1971 bike ,which looks all the world like my bike. Thanks for everyones help and comments.Everyone must agree that this is a great forum.Regards John.
  10. Weee Heee ,well remembered,Raymand Paul Brailsford is the first name on the old log book after it was imported. He came from Worksop.Log book stamped Jan 1973.He sold it to the bloke i got it off in Feb 1975.Were getting closer, but im still intrigued as to what the 72 bike looked like.I cant find any pictures or reference to it anywhere. As you say, it may be the 70 or 71bike.The plot thickens. Thanks Sherlock lol.
  11. Thanks sparks 2, im getting somewhere.I bought the bike from a bloke in Clowne in Derbyshire which is not that far from where Mick lives.I should love a photo of Mick on the bike or an eye witness account of the trial.I must say im getting a bit excited about finishing the project and might even start trialing again.I cant be any worse than in the 70s.I was never sober. In fact my wife didn't know i drank until i came home sober one night. Thanks again.
  12. Hi,i am new to this forum and probably too old to trial now.The thing is,i bought an Ossa in 1975 from a bloke that claimed it was Mick Andrews 1972 ssdt winning bike.Anyway,i rode in a few trials in 75 &76 and was absolutely bloody useless. In fact i won a prize in a Boxing day trial, for coming last.Anyroad up,i broke the sodding front wheel ,hitting a large tree head on.After that i was a bit disenchanted with trialing and couldn't aford to fix it so i slung it in the back of the garage, where it has been until now.I have just finished restoring an old s.v.BSA.and have now decided to restore the Ossa.I have the original old type log book for it ,which says "imported from Spain".How can i find out if it is Micks bike? Does anyone have any pictures or information? It is not like a MAR at all,its much sturdier and has an orange and white tank seat unit.I hope this post strikes a chord with someone.Regards John.
