  1. update, been a while! Main bearings were toast, in the end left it in and for £100 was sorted out. Put a new piston in and all is well again!
  2. Could be right there, will pull it off over the next 2 days and report back. Bike free wheeled OK, does that mean anything?
  3. Following this thread with interest as well as when riding my daughters bike today it seized :-(. Pulled top end and OK there so something down below has gone pop. I have a couple of questions:- - No trick to pulling the engine on these? Just remove skid plate front bars, swing arm bolt and anything else? - Ordering a Flywheel puller, will an air powered impact driver be OK for everything else? - Do you really need a crank case splitter for these engines? - I am thinking new gaskets, main bearings, crank seals and anything else I find iffy looking. Are there any other things routinely replaced? - Any recommendations for a one stop shop for all the bits? Video link to the bike here https://photos.app.goo.gl/6XihaVKNBNYnBaXv1
  4. thanks, hoping it will keep us connected for another while if she takes to it. Hard to stop teenagers from exiting from family life!
  5. Hi My 14 year old daughter has taken up trials, just bought her a 2008 Beta 125 to learn on, being picked up this week. I think it is fairly tired but the price is right and I don't mind getting the spanners out. If she takes to it then I don't mind getting a better one but if she does not take to it then at least I have not dropped a packet. I might have a go on it as well :-) Any tips for giving an older Beta a once over? Oils to use bearings to change etc.? Club wise based in NI and the local scene seems pretty good. I will get her along to the youth events as soon as she can handle the basics on the bike. Looking forward to many new experiences. Thanks in advance.
