  1. I have the same problem. It was running in the evening and flat the next morning. I understand there's a regularor/rectifier that likely knackered. I read a technical bulletin showing a simple test between pins 2 & 3 and 4 & 5. Pins 1 & 6 are the AC. I've not yet tried it though.

    CDI Removal

Is there a trick to getting the CDI unit out of the frame? It looks like I may have to drop the radiator but I'd rather not. Cheers BF
  3. The club members we have up there have shared some fantastic photos. It looks an awesome place to ride. Entries are open today for Bon Accord members only. It'll open the general public in a week's time and we're expecting it to fill up quickly so if you do want to ride it better get an entry in quickly.
  4. Midsummer (29th and 30th June) will see the Bon Accord Motorcycle Club quite literally breaking new ground when they run what will surely be the most northerly motorcycle trial ever staged in the United Kingdom. This exciting new addition to the calendar will be held at West Burrafirth in the Shetland Islands, a distance of some 250 miles north of the club’s home base in Aberdeen. First hatched as “one of those ideas in the pub” some six years ago, this trial has been born out of the sheer determination of a handful of riders based in Shetland to have a trial on their home ground. Bon Accord club president Bill McGregor recalls how the Shetland connection started. “An e-mail appeared one day asking if riders from Shetland would be allowed to ride in our trials. We immediately answered that they would be most welcome and told them when and where our next trial was and thought nothing more about it until a van with four bikes and riders turned up. It was only then that the effort that these guys had made to ride became apparent to us. An overnight ferry ride into Aberdeen followed by a day’s riding and then an overnight ferry back to Shetland ready for work on Monday morning.” That initial day out started to become a regular trip and one of the Shetland riders, Keith Leslie went on to become not only the first Shetlander to ride in every round of the Scottish Championship but also the first Shetlander to ride and finish the SSDT in 2018. Making friends and gaining respect every where he turned up, one of the first questions he was asked was “When are we going to Shetland then?” Now after having secured the use of a large piece of ground in the west of the islands the dream is set to become a reality. While the logistics of staging this trial are complex, we have some excellent club members who all live on Shetland actually doing the ground work while the club is looking after the paperwork and organisation of the ferries and accommodation. Bon Accord have purposely set the trial status to national which means that it is open to riders from all corners of the United Kingdom. It is the club’s hope that this two day trial can become if not an annual fixture then maybe a biennial fixture in the trials calendar. We already know that everyone who makes the effort is sure of a warm welcome in the Shetland Islands with amazing scenery, fantastic trials riding and twenty three hours of sunlight each day. Each days trial will be set out with three routes to allow for riders of all ages and abilities. Saturday night entertainment will include a charity auction, free food, a free beer and a local band. This promises to be a weekend to remember. On-line and postal entries for this two day trial will be available from the Bon Accord website www.bamcc.co.ukfrom the beginning of February. 5. The production team (Grain Media) weren't prepared for what was involved and admitted this on Monday evening. They weren't allowed out on bikes and didn't know where to go to get the footage they needed. We gave them advise every day after Monday but it's not easy to film this trial from the road side. We did your best to get some footage for them of Ross on the further out sections but we'd wait ages then and he'd usually just ride up and ask for a five. We did get some section footage and some moor crossing stuff for them and gave them a fews years worth of older stuff they've used as fillers. Personally I'm enjoying the programs as it shows a different side of the event and just how hard it is for a run of the mill clubman. I should add that Ross himself wanted to focus on the trial and not the filming and basically blanked the cameras other than at either end of the day and lunch stop. I saw him blank the filming team a few times when they wanting to check in with him at sections.

    Clutch issue.

It's not my first time. On this occasion that trick didn't work. It's off now and the fault appears to be a sticky slave cylinder/piston.

    Clutch issue.

Yes that's my thinking just now too. I usually remove it and leave it out. Serves little purpose once the case is back on. Currently struggling to remove the kick start.

    Clutch issue.

OK I need some Gas Gas expert help. I've not opened it up yet and it may be a simple one but it's not one I've seen before. Today the clutch level started stopping well short of the handle bar. As I rode, it sometimes pulled all the way in and other times stoped well short even once almost fully out. When it's doing this and the engines not running I can hear the slave cylinder piston knocking against the case like somethings sticking it from extending to compress the clutch. Any ideas before I open it up? 2015 TXT Pro Racing 250cc

Does anyone know if there are any new 2015 250's for sale anywhere or if they've all gone?

    Vertigo

I spent a couple of hours in Manel's exclusive company when we recovered him and his bike back to Fort William following his accident. He talked a great game and is a very serious about making this venture work. He's also showed me some of the plans he has for other models and types of bikes based around the same frame concept. I don't think it would be fair for me to say too much here as but I was impressed with his vision and he certainly has the financial means and company infrastructure to make it happen. The bikes being risen in Scotland were clearly prototypes and no where near the final target weight etc but they worked and finished a tough week. None were being thrown at the scenery like a clubman would do so its not a very fair comparison but they appeared well thought out and built. I truly wish him well, you couldn't find a nicer bloke.
  12. X-lite every time. Its not any lighter but has a more flexible side wall and a softer compound. Grip's great and last as long as a X11 but is slightly more prone to side wall cutting through. Only real negative I've found is you can't fix a leak very well with a turd or even an internal patch. It seems like the air can find a way along the layers in the construction and out where the hole was for within if you get my drift. Still, I love them.
  13. I've had an invite to ride this years Grimmialp two day trial in the swiss alps. Has anyone here done it before and what did you think. I'm a clubman rider. Cheers John
  14. That's the finished HD videos now online with each rider named and a musical sound track. This year I went a bit Scottish with the sound track. 15. My use is not for commercial gain and is therefore covered a under model aircraft use and CAA light touch regulations. I am a BMFA member and have public liability insurance. Essentially, the person controlling a small UAS is fully responsible for the safe operation of any flight, but it is important to consider whether a permission (not a licence) from the CAA is needed. You must request permission from the CAA if you plan to: fly the aircraft on a commercial basis (i.e. conducting ‘aerial work’) or fly a camera/surveillance fitted aircraft within congested areas or closer (than the distances listed within Article 167) to people or properties (vehicles, vessels or structures) that are not under your control Permission is not required if: the aircraft will not be flown close to people or properties, and you will not get ‘valuable consideration’ (i.e. payment) from the flight, then a permission is not needed;Permission is also not required for ‘practice’ or demonstration flights. However, the other requirements of Articles 166 and 167 must still be complied with, and it must also be ensured that no one is endangered while flying the aircraft. The regulations are intended to protect people and / or properties that are not involved in the activity. They are also aimed at being as ‘light touch’ and proportionate as possible, so there is a great deal that can be done (especially for private or recreational flights) without the need to approach the CAA at all.
  16. Yes. I've promised the observers a free copy each so I'll do a limited run.
  17. Thanks Glenn. As I said it's something to do between getting kicking out of the bar and it opening again. Appreciate the great feedback we get on here and elsewhere too.
  18. My pleasure guys. It's something to do during the day before the pub opens. We can't drink 24/7.

    5 Or 3 ?

All trials in Scotland have been no stop for about 10 years. This is not related to any recent change south of the border.

    5 Or 3 ?

Right let me get something straight. We go round and record this event on video and it's a great privilege, don't get me wrong. Over the years we've seen and published many riders including top ten ones taking a stop without ultimately getting a 5 or having a dab(s) missed. This video appears to have kicked up a lot of fuss but I believe it's for no reason. Obviously we could have chosen not to include that clip but it's not often you catch the top few making errors and it COULD affect the outcome (looks unlikely now) so obviously it makes the cut for the day. Not to stir up debate but because it's interesting to most of us clubmen. I've spoke to the observer (who shares our hotel) and he's confirmed that all he did was be consistent. If he was giving Joe Blogs a 3 for making a real effort then he has to do the same with Dougie Lampkin surely. The observers here have a really tough job, try concentrating and looking through crowds of spectators for up to seven hours at a time and still catch every tiny thing. The sad thing about all this debate is the fact that the guy observing probably feels really bad now, not because of his scoring but because of the debate that's going on here.
  21. I pushed it back in hard enough to deform the bottom of the tank (it's very thin plastic) and it sort of clipped back in. On seals no clips nothing! It held fuel ok but I've taken it off again (very easy to do and could be done by mistake) and glued it in place to with sealer that is OK with petrol. I'd recommend anyone with one of these tanks tank the tank off and put some good strong sealer like liquid metal round the joint so your doesn't come off in the first place. Not a great design I'm afraid. I can't see this making it through to the 2015 models.
  22. Its not a bayonet. If you look closely there's no space below the bayonet looking bits. The recess is an exactly mirror of the tap part. It fits perfectly but drops out straight away. I imagine only someone else who this has happened to is going to be able to explain it. I'll call GG on Monday if I can't get it worked out before then. It's a 250 Pro 2014 model with the new plastic tank.
