  1. Cheers Spinner. Looked at the regulator after I replied to you and decided it was an impossible job anyway. Summary so far is: There are no blue ended version 2 regulators in England and gasgas Es don't have any on the shelf. They are on order from Ducati Energia and should be at the factory at the beginning of Feb. No one can point me in the direction of a suitable connector block for the Version 2 regulator but have decided to wait rather than chop the loom, assuming that the proper regulator will turn up in the next two or three weeks. Just as well that I haven't flogged the old Sherco yet!!
  2. Thanks for the suggestions fellas. I should get an answer from Spain this week and if the part is not available I think I will go for the connector swap as Plan A. Spinner, Are the pins on the Version 2 regulator in the same order as the Version 1? They look the same on the wiring diagram I have. It looks like the connector block is glued to the side of the regulator did you just cut it off? Cheers Paul
  3. Have just bought a 2005 TXT PRO from a mate and after the first outing it would no longer start! After checking all the usual stuff I decided to get it down to the mechanics who identified that the regulator had burned out. Then the saga starts! The regulator is the Ducati Energia version 1 module fitted to the 2004 - 2005 300 pros - the one with the blue end to the connector block. Unfortunately I am struggling to get a replacement . I just got off the phone with the guys at Gas Gas Moto in Buxton who tell me that despite being on order from GasGas Es. for two months, no Version 1 regulators have yet turned up. However, they have supplied me with a Version 2 unit (with the black end) but this doesn''t fit the connector on the Stator wiring. I have tried Maplin, RS and Ducati but non of them use the same connector system !!!!!!!!!! I am now awaiting feedback from GasGas Es. on whether or not the part is obsolete. Have any of you guys had the same problem? Do any of you know where to source the connector or regulator? I don't suppose it is the end of the world because I could just cut off connector block and fit extensions with micro spades but this is a bodge that I would like to avoid. Cheers! Paul

    Sherco Ignition

Thanks for all the help fellas, I've now got my spark back! The problem turned out to be that the fly wheel had messed its self up on the crank when the key came adrift. The crank and fly wheel have been cleaned up and have managed to fit a new key. The whole thing seems to be holding for now so hopefully will do the business. Cost so far
  5. Had exactly the same problem with mine - sorted it by running the mixture a bit leaner and a new plug. So hopefully you'll be OK next time out.

    Sherco Ignition

Thanks Ady, Which bit came un-riveted? I am off to have a look at the bike tomorrow so will have more of an idea then. In terms of spares, the UK sherco importer ('Rathwell's'?) have told the mechanic that the Ducati fly wheel is no longer available (I don't know if this is "at all" or just through Sherco). I am not sure which other bikes / scooters use the Ducati fly wheel, I do know that vespa, Lambretta and Derbi all use the same CDI unit, perhaps one of them has the same fly wheel too. Does anyone have a part number for the Ducati fly wheel? Still !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Paul

    Sherco Ignition

Cheers Steve, I can't get down to the shop until Thrsday so haven't seen the damage yet. I will definitely be taking a look at the fly wheel when I get there, but from the phone message it sounds like the thing has been loose and has suffered some wear from rattling around, although I did look under the cover before I took it down and there was no obvious damage from the outside, no movement on the crank, but the retaining nut was loose. I am not sure what I am looking for in the fly wheel other than chunks missing and the magnets being in place. Anything else I should check?

    Sherco Ignition

I have just taken my 2002 Sherco 290 into the shop as it had no spark and I suspected that it needed a new stator fitting. Half an hour later I received a call saying that the stator was OK but that the fly wheel was goosed as it must have worked its way loose on the crank shaft - I haven't seen the bike stripped so can't say what the damage is! The guy at the shop says that the Ducati fly wheels are no longer available and that the bike requires a whole new ignition system from Leonelli -
