  1. Haven't taken any pics yet. (If I can remeber I'll try) but it is in rough shape. I only paid $100 us for it, for the price it was in great condition! (if I don't use it I will take it up to Mid Ohio in July to try to sell it)
  2. What do you think of this? Came upon a 1971 Sherpa T basket case. Motor is shot (chunk out of case, wont turn over, etc) but the frame& wheels are good. I have several 74 TY 250 motors and was wondering if it would be worth the effort to put a yamaha motor into that chassis (providing that it even fits) ? Or try to make a Magesty copy? Any thought or suggestions? Cheers. Mike
  3. It's been awhile since I posted anything on this forum, but here goes. I've been restoring a '74 Yam TY250 (almost done). Motor is in great shape, no problems at all, just cosmetics. With the motor out I wanted to take a look at the clutch to see how worn it was. When I got it apart I saw these really strange steel disc. I had never seen disc like these before. Looked like someone had ground it a bit on the outside and made it look like a nipple. All the steel disc looked like this, except for the last one . I was told that these were stock disc and it was normal. What I'd like to know is what was the purpose of having them shaped that way? Thanks
  4. It's been awhile since I've been to this forum, but I'm looking for some parts for my recently aquired 1974 TY250. The bike is in really good shape and I don't want to damage a very good gas tank. Does anybody make a decent replacement tank? (plastic would do). Also, the bike came with a extended & thicker seat. I'm looking for a solo replacement seat. Any suggestions? Thanks
  5. I'm in the states and have a section I want to get rid of. I bought it for $250usd and it was not in the best of shape. I was told by the guy "that it ran last month" and had that confirmed by several people. Motor turns easy, but there is no spark, and I'm tired of trying to hunt down parts.
  6. Looking at a trials website (lewisportusa.com) and saw a 1992 honda tlm260r that appeared in good shape for sale. How rare is this bike and would parts be a pain in the ass to get? Thanks, Mike
  7. Thanks. And thanks to everbody else for their help. Before this fanitc came along I was going to get a used gas gas (still am). At least this thing, among others, will keep me busy during the winter. And when I get it done, I'll post a few pix. Has anybody been to the trials traing center in Tenn.? Mike
  8. What about the electrics? Seat? Sliencer? Mike
  9. For what I paid for this bike I didn't think I could go wrong. I do a little custom painting on the side and work in a machine shop, so at least it will look killer when I'm done with it. I think the paint job will be worth more than the bike:) When & if I get it running, I think I'll be ahead of the game. I still would like to get a gasgas though. By the way I'm located in Cincinnati, Ohio USA and there isn't ANY trials dealers here within 100 miles. Most riding around here is done with (I'm gonna get sick) ATV's
  10. Well, the only numbers I could find were on the neck of the frame. I couldn't locate any on the engine. (Where is it?) The first 2 numbers are worn and obscured, but I belive it reads 50409592. There is another number on the neck that says FM364. The fiberglass has all been painted black, but underneath the fender is orange, along with the disc gaurds. The only thing really missing is the baffle. Heck I only paid $200 for it. Mike
  11. Well I finally did it. Went and got my first real trials bike. Had a Honda Reflex for a few years but got a used Fantic Section (ast least I think it is). Now if I can just determine exactly what year and model it is. The problem I am having whith it is an electrical issue. No spark. Is there anyway I can determine what exactly is giving me fits? From what I understand the bike had gotten fairly hot and wouldn't start anymore. It still has good compression and there's no signs of seizing. I can't seem to find anything on this bike and sure could use a mnual for it. Anyplace in the US that I can go to for parts? Mike
