  1. My 280r did the same thing until I changed the plug. Just like you I thought it had a good spark, but a new plug sorted it out. They're really susceptible to the right plug so I always get a couple and keep them handy as mine seems to go through plugs like nobodys business.....
  2. Lead mines Trials racing outside Belfast sells them... Do a search on google r through the www.knockmotorcycleclub.co.uk for a link....
  3. Hello guys (and gals..) I have recently bought a 1986 KDX200 to tidy up as a bit of a run around I can take into the woods near tthe house I'm moving to. The bike is already registered but my question is, What are the lighting requirements for a full MOT. I have read through the forums and know it would be easy to get a daytime only MOT, but I reckon it shouldn't be that hard to get the full monty depending on the answers to these questionsr, - Does the headlight need to have a full AND dipped beam if it did not come as standard? If I need the dip, any suggestions for an aftermarket item that runs on 6v electrics? - If I go for a full MOT do I need indicators if the bike did not have them as standard? - Does the brake light need to operate on both brake levers? Thanks for the help...
  4. Graham Jarvis actually beat Dougie the year they were both in Junior Kickstart together. I remember Dougie seemed a lot more hot headed then than he is now....
  5. Route? I usually try and attemp the D route, though to be honest my route is usually the one that rocks and roots shove my front wheel into following...... Ocassionally I add a bit input through the bars and manage to make it look like I meant to go there
  6. Puch 50MX Honda Melody (my granny gave it to me after she fell off it... ) Yamaha ty80 Montesa Cota 349 Maico 490 Mega2 Aprilia Pegaso 650 Aprilia Climber 280R Honda VFR750
  7. Thats the same as mine BA. Never had another modern trials bike, though I have ridden mates sherco's and TXT's so I know it's a bit of a dinosaur. It's for sale on the site btw.... (shameless plug!!)
  8. I just use motocross gear. I don't want to inflict the sight of me in lycra on anyone!!! Also, the MX gear is much tougher and as there is a much wider range, it is possible to get some good deals. I don't find that it is any more restrictive either.
  9. If I binned that alloy tank / seat unit on rock, I'd cry like an ickle baby!! in front of the observers and everything.....
  10. beta boy is right about the shape of the expansion chamber and it's effect on a power curve. The harmonics of an exhaust pulse leaving the cylinder are amplified in the expansion chamber to bounce back and forth within it. A shock wave leaving the cyliner helps draw fuel mix through the engine, while a returning shock wave helps seal it ( in the absence of valves) and prevent the unburnt mixture going straight out the exhaust. the shape of the pipe affects the frequency and amplitude of these shock waves, which in turn affect the way in which fuel is burnt at certain points in the rev range. Power valves work to alter port height at certain RPM so that tuners can 'have their cake and eat it' so to speak. Certain exhaust port height dimensions work better at high or low revs ( Or in between). A variable exhaust port height allows greater efficiency at a wider rev range. Sorry if this is basic and doesn't make much sense, but I'm hung over and it's been a long day......
  11. fifth gear wheelie, missed the back brake as the front came back too far, put my foot down and forgot that I can't run as fast as my bike in fifth, promptly pitched forward onto my face and shoulder..... hands were torn to shreds, not great for a computer programmer.....
  12. A guy here uses a Scorpa long ride in the ulster enduro championship. He recorded a 4th overall in a meeting a couple of weeks ago in the snotty Sperrin forests.... Perfect tool though I reckon taller people might find the going a little cramped on faster sections....
  13. Hello all, just to add another source, On Any Sunday Motorcycles have some Aprilia spares. Their number is 07703357260
  14. Thanks, I'll try them later on.........
  15. I've read with interest the above posts.. I need a kickstart for a 280R climber I have tried Rathmel and that guy Culliford and neither have been able to help me find a kickstart for my Climber 280R. I broke it off at the splines collar and lost the broken part in the stream I had stalled in Rathmell told me point blank that I won't be able to find one so unless someone knows that number of a breaker who does off road stuff I'm a bit screwed..... helllllllllllllllllllllllllpppppppp........
