  1. so people are still riding big twins, jammy if a sponsored ride as well
  2. I swear by the cheap supermarket multi surface cleaner, rinse bike, spray cleaner all over, brush in and rinse, works a treat
  3. I would say get a Beta Rev 50, been the TY route after an auto mx type bike. He picked up clutch control very fast, kids eh, & its 30yrs ahead of a TY80.
  4. I've got an original Leonardo Da Vinci LDV van, got to be worth a fortune on flea bay.
  5. Hi, had same problem with spark, was a duff ht coil breaking down, afternoon before boys 1st comp too, easy cheapish fix, new coil. Choke should stay down until flipped up. Hope this helps, Pete.
  6. I use supermarket multi surface cleaner, about 99p a litre, and a soft ish brush, paintbrush for the fiddly bits. Works just as well for me, tried most.
  7. Beta Rev50. Mine had a Ty80, then a Beta 50. Chalk n cheese, but then there's 30yrs difference. Mine was definately handicapped on a TY against all the others on modern bikes. Lighter, easier to start, more grip, so much difference.
  8. Hi, my 8 year old has a Rev 50 6 speed, 2007, also very pleased with, fantastic, just needed decent tyres. I'm sure which ever you chose, neither will dissapoint.
  9. Always a pleasure to watch a genious at work. Awesome.
  10. Priceless, loved it when the bike arrived upstairs on its own. Dont 4rt's sound good indoors! If I'd done that missus would have skinned me. Now I know why I left her.

    Ty175

Hi, I don't know how relevent this is but I had a similar problem on my nippers ty80. Bike would work perfectly intermittently. Tried a coil off any ty worked ok. Purchased a new coil, same problem. Had the source coil rewound (south west windings, excellent service), new condenser and points, new wire to coil, still no good. Turned out to be faulty new coil, needent have spent the extra money/ hours head scratching. What I'm getting at, have you tried borrowing known working parts, could be a duff new one. Try connecting a volt meter to your codenser output wire and earth when bike is hot, kick it over and see if you get a volt reading. good luck
  12. Ran a new Mitchelin today for the first time after only having experienced vee rubber. Riding in slick clay mud the difference in upright grip was very noticable. Cleaning climbs the vee wouldn't get half way up with less speed. Cross camber though it doesn't appear to have any more grip. I use a tube in mine and was inflated to 3psi. The vee has done 300 miles of road work and still good for another 300. Bet a Mitchelin wont do that ! Happy dabbing.

    Headlamp

Hi, the bulb in mine was a 12v 35w like used around the house, easily obtained for 99p and up. I used to have a UFO headlamp unit which took two similar lamps. They are available in 50w and different angles of beam width. I use my rev 3 fairly regularly on the road (6 mile commute to work), so I fitted a Honda 4rt headlamp which has dip and main beams, still only 35w though. hope this helps Pete.

    No Sparks Ty

Hi, just had a similar problem with my nippers TY80. Turned out to be the primary coil. Now sent off for rewinding as recommended by the ty trials shop. good luck.
  15. My nipper got the 2007 indoor season DVD from santa. Excellent viewing, almost 4 hours and didn't seem to skip through the rounds too fast. I'd certainly recommend it.
  16. Doesn't matter which boots you get. Drink lots of beer and they all sway.
  17. Hi, my 02 is registered etc, I commute to work occasionally (12 mile round trip), and ride to where I practice, 3 miles as often as possible. Have fitted Acerbis LED rearlight, 4RT headlight (good colour match, dip+mainbeam, 35w halogen bulb), hydraulic brake light switch on back brake, and made a seat. To do this. Find your ideal backside position and duct tape some thick polythene with a good overlap. On top of this lay 4-5 layers or fiberglass, allow to cure, remove/ trim sides when cured. Evosick on layers of foam in a wedge shape to "level" seat. Upholster with your favourite covering. Asda sell large self adhesive velcro bits, use these to secure seat pan, then easy to remove / replace. I use 12/42 gearing, cruises 45/50 mph. Don't be afraid to ride your Beta on the road, go commute over cars!
  18. I'm definately not a celebrity, but please GET ME IN THERE !!
  19. Thanks to his thread I went to Asda last night and bought 2x1 litre bottles of thir own brand Multi Surface Cleaner for about
  20. What a can of worms your opening, record no of replies maybe! I'll bat first and go for rock solid Beta.
  21. Why did you write Lampkins no on your flywheel?
  22. Whatever you do, don't use arosole lube, youre chain is will get shagged. I like to use WD40, wait until Lidl or Aldi have it on special and buy several.
