  1. The first point taken is the loser has been the rule forever. In past years, tie breakers were determined by time. The fastest rider to complete the event won. This year, the time tie breaker has been dropped and there is a ride off if the riders are tied on observation. It happened in the Sportsman class on Saturday in Texas.
  2. Ah yes.....the memories of a good moto van.My dad had an old Ford van we rocked for several years and hundreds of thousands of miles. Bought it for $1000, drove it for about 6 years and 200,000 miles, and sold it for $1400. Absolute bullet proof. Just normal maintenance items. I did recently find a 2012 Chevy cargo van with a Duramax.......that could be a good one for travel.
  3. From Jim's Facebook page....He says the Youtube channel is shut down but a new one has been opened. He is editing the most popular videos, taking brand trademarks out of them.
  4. Our club has hosted countless state, regional, and national events over the years. We have tried newspaper ads, TV ads, social media, and even have had a TV station out doing a report(great publicity, but it aired on the Sunday night after the event). The best advertising and cheapest, we have found, is the local newspaper sports section. We had a reporter and photographer come out a few days before an event and they did interviews and photo shots of practice. The reporter was so impressed that he changed his schedule for that weekend and we got front page of the sports section coverage all weekend. The best part was that it was free!
  5. We used the V Mar racing carb adapter. Very good product and never had problems installing the airbox or with it sealing. Derek
  6. I remember doing that. Very common on the '98-'99s. It needs a new steering stem. You'll have to use a press to get the old one out and the new one in the lower triple clamp.
  7. We had a guy here in Wyoming that wound up with Michaud's '87 works 303. It was brought over for him for the Pennsylvania world round, then left in the USA for Bernie Schreiber to ride the rest of the nationals on. I don't know all the details of the bike, but it had removable flywheel weights and aluminum axles. Rumor has it that Bernie didn't get paid, so he sold the bike. I can't imagine Honda/Montesa leaving Bou's bike behind these days.
  8. I have had the 3 being discussed(Ford fullsize van, caravan, and truck). The full size would be the way to go. Get a long wheelbase and you could build a wall between the cargo space and people space. The caravans are nice, but wont seat 3. I had one with the stow-n-go seating, and I had to load the bike through the side door as the back wasn't tall enough. We have used many pickups with and without topper shells. I never felt secure leaving my stuff in the back. Depending on the topper height, you may have to roll the bars or take a front wheel off. They all have advantages and disadvantages. I would love to have a full size van if traveling.
