  1. Most riders have been contacted but there a few I don't have a number for - the Jack Wood is cancelled due to the weather. Sections are OK but the roads are not so for observers to get around the course and stand out in the sub zero temperatures would be very difficult and therefore make going ahead not a sensible decision on the clubs part. Days of work wasted! - we might be able to find a new date but with a packed calendar we can't promise anything. Cheers HMCC
  2. Sorry We've had to cancel the trial due to the snow. We can't use many of the groups and restricted access to the ones we can means it's just not feasible. Spread the word. thanks Andy
  3. Hi the regs are now available for the Jack Wood Trial, round 3 of the S3 Parts Championship. Please look at the Trials Central calendar - 31st March Be quick it is normally over subscribed Any one interested in observing please contact the secretary. thanks
  4. Hi the entry is now full. I'm happy to add you to the reserve list if you want, just send an entry form etc. Thanks for your interest. If you would like to observe please get in touch.
  5. Hi, the regs are out!! Regs for this years Jack Wood have been posted to those who entered last year and supplied and envelope, also they are now available on the TC Calendar. So far some of the more enterprising have used standard entry forms and a blank cheque (whoo-hoo, new bike for me)or the details on the ACU web-site; which means there are alreay 40 or so entries - please be quick it will close when full which was within a week last year. The trial itself will still be 50 sections over 1 lap, imagine if Carlsberg did a national, this would be it
  6. Regs are available for the final round of this years Normandale traditional championship - The Hillsborough Classic, which takes place 30th October The event will start at stannington on the western edge of Sheffield and will be made up of two laps of 22 sections, including road work and of a similar format to recent years which has proved popular. It will cater for all the championship classes and a non championship class. Regs can be found on the TC calendar or contact the secretary Andy - 07803 898804.
  7. I've just read this on Enduro News, I've responded to DEFRA and would urge you to do the same, I'd rather spend 20mins composing an e mail to them now and go home late on a Friday than loose land access. The Ramblers association don't like anyone (in my opinion) not just trials riders so don't expect a view but their's to be voiced on the panel. http://enduronews.com/archive/xenduro1681.htm
  8. The limit is 155 and yes it's usually a couple of weeks at least before it's full. We've squeezed in an extra 5 for the last couple of years but the limiting factor is daylight. As we have a time limit just over 7 hours and unfortunately March is the only time we can run the trial now, a council stipulation.
  9. The Jack Wood is now full (that's just over a week!!). I will now start a reserve list for any more entries that come in. If there are any observers out there please get in touch - 07803 898804 Many thanks
  10. Morning the regs are now available for the Jack Wood Trial, this year it will be a round of the S3 parts championship. they can be found on the Trials Central calendar. If you rode last year and sent enough envelopes they should be on your doorstep anytime soon. If there are is anyone out there who would be happy to observe please get in touch with the secretary: Andy Longden - 07803 898804. thanks
  11. I had a similar problem with my 300, tried everything and it turned out to be a leaking base gasket. Just another option!
  12. HI the Jack Wood is now full, a little slower to fill up this year it's taken about two weeks. If you would like to go on the reserve list please let me know. Any willing observers please call Andy on 07803 898804 or Haggis on 0114 2661 338. cheers
  13. The regs are now out for the 2010 Jack Wood Trial on 28 March. Last year riders were asking where they could find regs through a thread, even though they were in the calendar, and so this year we are trying to ensure this is covered off. Maybe breaking some forum by-law in the process but all publicity is good publicity after all!! The regs and entry from are in the TC calendar, the Hillsborough club website soon and have been posted to last years riders who supplied an envelope. This year the club has been fortunate enough to secure sponsorship from Manhattan Motorcycles of Sheffield and we have used this as prize money. www.manhattan-motorcycles.co.uk To encourage riders to tackle the hard route in one of the most traditional of nationals with sensible sections the awards will be spread across the best expert, intermediate, novice, and over 40 riders on the hard route so please include your status on the entry form. The Jack Wood has been no stop for many years and boasts a 50 knee buckling sections around 1 lap taking in classic groups such as Hall Broome, TCC, Ughill, and the infamous River Kwai to finish (you) off. Great SSDT training. So get your entries in quick, the event is usually over subscribed and we'll see you at the end of March. If there are any observers out there please get in touch with the secretary, his details are on the calendar on the regs.
  14. I'll argue: the best trial of the series has to be the Hillsborough Classic round in October
  15. Morning I'm the secretary for the Jack Wood. Firstly the entries are compliled in order of reciept, once the trial is full which it was within less than three weeks of regs being posted in the calendar on this website and being posted to the 08 riders who sent an envelope with their entry. Whithin the club we have a small (e) mailing list which I sent out with details of where regs could be found in order that we could drum up support. In addition I get as much publicity in TMX as possible. This year we have a reserve list which was well over 20 riders and when someone dropped out the rider at the top of the list was slotted in. I use the same system as mentioned here ie 10 entries arrive in one envelope (and they do) then they are kept together. Every rider sends their entry straight away, expects a late number and can't believe it when they get an early one. With regards to bike make, this is purely by chance in relation to entry reciept and numbers, there were infact 60 odd gasgas, 40 odd beta and the rest spilt, sorry I can't remember the exact numbers (only 9 sherco, I do remember that, they look OK, is there something I don't know?), this is from the origional entry list the third to last rider was in fact on a Mont. With regards to the late entry/easier section debate this will always rumble on. We would argue that the trial is balanced, Dave 'Haggis' Knaggs is the chief section plotter and takes a great effort to ensure this is the case, I'm the last rider, picking up flags and collecting score cards and know how hard some of the sections had become. Every section is ridden in and cleaned before the event, we have to wire brush the rocks on the Kwai before we can get near them. Evidence of this would be in '08 number 12 won the clubman class, in '07 Lee Sampson won as one of the first national route riders. Else where on this forum there seems t be a problem with the results I posted. I thought the spreadsheet included both classes and a separate list for the Kwai (I need to do this as there is an award for the best ride on the group), there only seems to be one PDF. It's the first time I've done it, I'll give it another go. Dougie Pumpkin, as I'm so disorganised perhaps you would like to give the secretary job for both the club nationals next year a go, I've done it for the last 5 or so and I'm sick of the criticism, moaning, accusations of cheating, workload, lack of thanks etc etc - but I strongly believe in putting something back into a sport I take from and as a club with an small band of workers we have to spread the work out as best as possible. As a slight aside, we think we have the only 1 lap, 50 section trial left in the UK - does anyone know of another? Most nationals are less sections or two laps +.
