I have a 03 Sherco 2.9 which has been running fine up until yesterday. The problem is that the bike will run fine, but if I stop the engine and then try to restart, the plug fouls and it will not restart unless I remove the plug and clean it. I am using the exact same ratio of 2t oil to petrol at 2% and have replaced the airfilter for a new one, does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Thanks in advance

Seems abit rich 2% fuel/oil mix, what does your book say?, has the new filter got too much oil on it as well? I run the Beta at 1.3-1.5% using Repsol or TTS

hi,
I have an `04 2.9. The bike should run at 2% no problem.(This is tha manufacturer recomendation)I would say get a new plug in first. You havnt mixed your oil wrong??,you shoul have 100 mls of oil howeverI run mine with 75 mls and i know of quite a few people who do.Then check your mixture screw. It sshoul be 3.5 turns out from fully screwed in.

Steve

PS,try running the bike without an air filter just to make sure its not blocked

Guys, Thanks for the feedback. I have stuck a new plug in today and replaced the airfilter and the bike seems to start and run fine, not had a chance to run it for any period of time but hopefully it is cured. I will also try running the 2T mix a bit leaner am I correct in an 80:1 mix being 12.5ml/L ?

Sorry for the dumb questiond but the bike is new to me and I dont want to make a mistake and have a costly repair bill to pay :-)

Had exactly the same problem with mine - sorted it by running the mixture a bit leaner and a new plug. So hopefully you'll be OK next time out.

Cecil, thats a bit lean, try 75ml - 80ml in 5 litres of Petrol. ie 1.5%, 12.5 ml per litre is only 1.25%, few mates run at 1.25% but I think its pushing it abit.
