I've just noticed a crack in the disc mount on my TLM fork leg. I want to get it repaired before it actually breaks, but I wanted to know a bit more before I find someone to do the work. I'm a bit reluctant to take some unobtainium to a fabricator and have them destroy the fork leg because they don't know what they're welding.

Can the fork leg be welded and if so what is it likely to be made from?

I'm a bit flaky about having the forks welded, so would it be better to replace them with something like some 315 Showa forks?

The big question about 315 forks is expense because would this mean a whole new front end, including yokes, wheel, brakes, etc?

Or you could buy the TLM rolling chasis on eBay and have a big pile of spares ........TLM here
