if i leave the bike for a week on starting it the clutch will not clear at all until i have rode round for about 5 mins. it is then ok. i have replaced the oil with 400 cc of dexron 3 but the problem was still there today although this was the first time the bike had been started for a week. any advice would be appreciated

No, sorry, it is not normall. Right away with start up the clutch shld work.
The clutch works with a disc-spring and debris cld become a problem when they have accumulated over the years. I assume this bike is not brand new?
Start with cleaning the clutch inside-out. And change the clutch(brake)hydraulic fluid while yr to it.
That wld probably solve it.
