Rev 3 Carb

Hi All

I have read in many posts, the need to drain and clean the carb after use. I have also read that there have been many problems with the Mikuni carb, which I do not experience. I have no starting problems hot or cold, uphill or down dale. Do I leave things alone or follow the suggestions here if so, how do I go about draining and cleaning the carb. Many thanks Ian

Christ Ian, if you dont have any problems with the Mikuni and it fires up whilst pointing downhill leave the bugger alone  you must have the only one in the country

If you want to take the risk of cleaning it best to use an air line.

Remove the 4 screws to release the float bowl

Remove the main jet (6mm spanner)

Remove the pilot jet (Very small flat head screwdriver - be carefull turning it )

Remove Fuel jet/tangs/pin

Spray a load of carby cleaner in all the body and passages/jets

Blow out with the air line

If you can blow opposite direction to fuel flow all the better

Dont overtighten the jets or float bowl

If you are unsure which way the tangs go, there should be a letter A stamped on them, fit it so you can see the A when in position
