I have a 05 290 Sherco and it goes into reverse at least once every trial. Any help with problem would be much appreciated.

The ignition timing is too far advanced, see Sherco website for how to retard it.

No when I stop in a section and pull clutch in occasionally when I let the clutch out again it goes into reverse.

I would agree with above comments, but seems I recall another fellow a while back said he fixed it with a stator replacement. Ck the woodruff key first, and the stator plate position. But it does lead me to believe that the the ignition module(coil pack) may be very sensitive to disruptions sent by the stator , as it really does not know which way things are rotating! Never seen it myself, but that is why we share here! Let us know! :o
