OK. SO i put the impact wrench on the nut and it won't shift. Tried both directions in the end...

Please can someone confirm whether to rotate the nut clockwise or counter....?

and..

should it be this hard to get the retaining nut off??

Cheers. J

Anti-clockwise to undo. This is how Wayne does it with an air impact wrench, if you are using a manual wrench then you will need a flywheel holder. Yes it's tight.

I would imagine it has maybe never been off and has corroded a little and have the original loctite on it.
The flywheel needs holding, either with a strap wrench of some description or make up a holding tool with a lump of steel and two correctly positioned bolts.

Hi KTM,

You can get a 12v electric impact wrench from Repco for about $75. I've found mine very handy. And you'll need it when you change the fork oil too.

Or bring your bike up the freeway to my place and I'll sort it out here for you.

Best of balance.

Neo

PS. After you've adjusted the timing you can test it out on the rocks up here...... but please..... leave any other Enduro/MX/SuperCross bikes, you might have, at home

Neo...thanks for the offer. Will take you up on it 8-)

I just reset the timing - 7mm retarded from stock. A lot less punchy and seems to run OK as is. Very happy even if pulling the flyweel nut was a b****.
