1st off, Plug gap is 0.5-0.6mm champion N7YCC (recomended)

Main jet (is)150

Move the clip back to center, that's NOT the problem.

More likely a dirty carb or air filter or maybe even resticted exghast.

Pull the carb, unscrew the pilot, and remove the float.

Give'r a good spray of carb cleaner every where and blast out every oriface with compressed air.

Reassemble checking for proper float level.

Turn in pilot screw to (litely)seat then back out 1/2 -1 turn.

Make sure the choke plunger is free and not sticky.

Hopefully this helps a little. :wall:

Thanks half a tire...

should have said a bit more of what i've done and checked..

I've replaced with new, the inlet manifold and air box rubber and fitted a new air filter with oil and fitted new starderd reeds.. so as far as that goes, all new, no air leaks..

Carb has been apart for a good clean with both jets taken out and cleaned and the float level is set corect.. Also choke has been apart and cleaned..

Plug is new with the gap set to 0.5 by me. NGK BPR5ES..

Main jet is 150..

New thotal cable fitted and twist grip.

Miture 80 to 1 normall unleaded..

neadel set to lowest setting.

The problem is the revs don't pick up immediate from low down makeing it a little hesitent to ride and theres quite a bit of popping comeing from the exghast note..

Mikee, try a 145 main and 27.5 pilot jet, keep the needle jet one up from the middle standard setting to lean the main jet and do a plug chop after trying the new settings. Most peoples Betas are transformed by these small changes. The Boyesen reeds also make a big difference to low down revs and pickup but next to no difference top end.

The BPR5ES is the correct plug for the UK, as stated by Lampkins, the bike may also benifit from a good clean out in the exhausts and repack the silencer. Use the highest Octane fuel you can get, Shell V Force if possible (99) and a good 2 stroke oil (TTS/Repsol etc) Avgas is really good but only use it 50/50 with premium unleaded

OK,couple other things to check, Some boy's say to remove the cap on the plug wire and wack off a 1/4-1/2 inch of plug wire.

The popping out the exghast though,,suggest lean mixture.

Does the coolant level ever change??

Timing spot on??

Silencer need re-paking?

Faulty kill switch?

My Beta loves Bel-Ray HR at 70.1 with 93 octane.

Thanks guys all help is good.. :wall:

I've clean all of the exhast and repacked the silecner..

Would like to know a little more on the timeing side of things if anyone could explain in depth would be helpfull.

I've got a order for Lamkins so will put a 140 main jet and 27.5 pilot on it and see if this helps..

I will also try some better petrol as are shell garage sells shells v force.

Mikee, thats a 145 main not a 140 when you ring lampkins, try just the pilot first top end on your bike might be ok as it is. Make sure you check the plug to make sure the bike isnt running to lean and set the needle either back to standard or one notch leaner, dont lean it full out as you have now. What colour is your plug at the moment? balck and ****ty I bet, the 27.5 should make it run a nice dry brown colour as it should be. Once the plug is the right colour and the bogging has been cured dial out the popping if its still there with the mixture screw. Well worth the 27 quid for the boyesens whilst your doing the changes the old reeds may have seen better days after 7 years.

I will see if I can find a setting for the timing on the 2000 rev3, the timing mark is easy to alter if its way off but I doubt it is anyway

Thanks for the adivce guys, been out in the work shop tonight fitting the new pilot and main jet. Only had a quick ride around the garden and it does seem better.

Shall have to wait till the weekend and have a good test ride before the club trial on saturday afternoon..Should be some mud around so that will a good test.

Going to wait a week or so before fitting some boyesen reeds. Do you rellay think that they make that much of a differacne????

Got the fork seals to do tomorrow, does any one know the amount of oil that they take..????

Thanks again for the help...
