Temps and baro (humidity too)play the most signifigant part of the setting and change during the day! The blinkin Mic and Keihin are very sensitive to the settings within 1/8 turn, and you must learn to "tune by ear" to the throttle response and idle quality. Takes some training! Slightly rich(in) from highest idle is a good start, but leaner makes smoother response! You have to seek out the "sweet spot"! The effective range on the screw is normally 0- 3 1/2 turns, and you should be running toward the middle of the range or a jetting change may be indicated(read, start at 1 3/4) and fine tune for conditions at operating temp(not cold). A change of 1 turn may vary it from "lumpy" to "floaty" idle. Although I have no friggin ider where to start on a Beta as far as the jet, but this guideline should help keep things ticking smoothly on every ride. If you start playing with this you will suddenly start realizing the difference. That'll give you something to think about tonight, maintaining the correct Stoichiometric ratio with the variables of air density! paul w Posted May 25, 2007 Report Share Posted May 25, 2007 i set mine up like this. get the bike nice and warm i.e. ride for 10/15 mins. set the tickover very slightly fast, then set the mixture screw to about one turn out, slowly turn out and the motor will idle slightly faster, then as you go past the best point slow or even stall. turn back to the point on best idle . this should now really be between one and two and a half turns. i also run the same jetting and a set of boyson reeds, my bike now carburates fantasic. however, it does need re-setting for differing venues and air temperature, but not by much. i have to say the reeds made a huge difference, well worth the money. hope this helps, i know i was fed up with my bike as standard it wasnt fun to ride at all, but now i think its great Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
