Lighting Wiring?

While I've got my bike in a million bits, I thought it might be a good time to tidy up the wiring. A couple of questions (both of which have been touched upon before but not in this context):

1. How do I remove all the superfluous lighting wiring? Can I just disconnect it all behind the headstock and remove or does anything else need to be done.

2. When connecting a Yam-style 2-button kill switch, I know that I need to connect the black to the black coming from the coil but where's the best place to connect the earth?

I can't remember the wiring set up but it's very simple, one of the wires on the kill switch to one of the wires in the multi plug (take your pick ;))

I usually run the earth along the bars and down into the fram along with the clutch hose, throttle cable etc. Once inside the frame area, fish the wire out the left hand side and attach it to the coil (?) thingy under the black plastic shroud. Proper earth connection is that ;)

Yep,

The kill switch should connect to the black wire out of the stator, and the other end onto the uppermost bolt on the coil.

The lighting wiring should be pretty simple really, I pulled mine off and it was pretty straight forward. there wasn't as much as I had expected. I can't remember if I had to put a link in somewhere to the fan or such like. Try getting a wiring diagram, highlight what you are taking off (in appropriate colours) and all will become clear.
