Hi All,

Apologies if this has been asked a million times before but i only had the bike a couple of days and i'm completely new to trials bikes. My carb appears to be in need of a strip and clean - dropped the bike earlier and the float appears to be sticking open.....steady stream of fuel from the overflow pipe on the carb bottom. I need to get a gasket kit or whatever to do this i expect but i'm not sure what model mikuni is fitted. Any suggestions gratefully recieved, plus any tips on setting it up

After a bit of searching i found that its a VM28 (left hand model). Discovered that the one on my bike has had a lashup repair done on it anyway - the bottom of the carb body has been cracked off where it meets the gasket to the float bowl, and has been sealed with silicone sealer. Not a great job really, and its seeping a bit. I sourced a supplier of these carbs and got a new old stock one for 56 quid delivered - will just need a rejet. Beta UK are looking for around 130 plus the vat i think for the same one, so a pretty decent saving. If anyone else needs one let me know and i'll give you the guys contact details

hi there. welcome to wonderful world of upside down motorcycles.

set up hints for techno carbs.

like you i have recently got myself an old techno having just returned to trials after a 12 year plus lay off and experienced what sounds like the same fuel leaking problems (mine even leaked on the side stand with fuel tap on).

have a read through the page on this link http://www.r2wtrials.co.uk/html_files/betacarbsetup.html and make adjustments to float stopsas shown, its also worth carrying out the mods to the carb breather pipes as shown in this page http://www.ntxtrials.com/web_newsletters/RCR0106.pdf

i have carried out both these mods and it runs very well and doesn't try to dump its fuel at the first opportunity. hope this helps.

ps if your carb is a gonna check out ebay , i've seen a few techno's being broken for spares on there.

all the best Tim
