I have just striped down my aprilia 280 climber 1992. There is a little bit of welding that needs to be done on the frame were the mudgaurd mount is, i was just wondering what the frame would be made of i would say steel but just wanted to ask to make sure?

Also i need to stifen the suspension up because i am a big lad and the supspension keeps bottoming out and hiting the mudgaurd, i was wondering if i could have some advice on how to adjust this? There is a standard pump valve on it (the usual car tyre size) and i was wondering can this be pumped up with a standard pump or do i need a specialist?

I would be greatful for anyother advice on little jobs i could do wast the bike is in bits??

The schrader valve (car tyre size) is part of the shock hydralics and will not alter the 'ride height' The gas in the shock should be an inert gas, and should not be pumped up with air. If your truly a lardi a***, size fb, the spring will either have to more pre-load or changed for a heavier duty spring. These particular bikes , didn't sell in great numbers, most probably ended up in the local canal or returned to China as scrap metal to make computer cases, therefore are quite rare (1st production bike to have both watercooling and upsidedown forks) and well worth repairing the rear mudguard, use the magnet trick, to check wether ferrous or nonferrous material.

cheers mate no i am not that fat just big its ok but just bottoms out on the odd ocasion shud be fine i think its more to do with the suspension getting well used!!
