To: ACU Centres, National Trials Organisers, TMX, Trials Central, ACU Website, Riders & all interested parties
From: Trials & Enduro Department
Date: 21st June 2008
Ref: OPEN TRIALS FORUMS
As previously publicized, an Open Trials Forum will be held at ACU House on 21st June 2008 starting at 10.30am prompt.
Issues relating to the British Solo Trials Championship will be discussed at a separate forum at a later date.
You are cordially invited to attend and put forward any views or suggestions you may have for the 2009 season.
If you have any specific items that you feel should be included on the agenda, please contact Alison Devine at the ACU and we will try to include them on the main agenda.
Light refreshments will be available.
This forum is your opportunity to voice your ideas and opinions and the Trials & Enduro Committee hope it will be well attended.
Attendance at past Forums has varied greatly – and there is often some debate as to their effectiveness.
The Committee feel however that it is an opportunity for those with an interest in our Sport to express their views – and therefore will try to maintain this opportunity.
Realistically however we require a minimum of 10 people to make the Forum viable.
PLEASE RING ALISON ON 01788 566409 OR E-MAIL alison@acu.org.uk TO CONFIRM YOUR ATTENDANCE BY 13th June.

Other than through our centres (of via John Collins on TC) we rarely have a chance to put accross our ideas etc, so I feel this is an opportunity that we should take advantage of. If this years forum is cancelled due to lack of participants, then we might never get the chance again.

This is another stick we get beaten with "Why is everything always in Rugby ?"Because that's where the ACU is based is the simple answer. Everywhere is near to somewhere and a long way from somewhere else.
Of the Trials and Enduro Committee only Tim Fairbrother lives anywhere near to Rugby at least 3 of us live about 200 miles away and we all make the trip many times a year.
Midweek in Scotland ? Yeah that would be greeted with a loud cheer, how about the Isle of Wight when the Ladies Championship Trial is on?
Can't win sorry

Mick,
Do you have enough participants to make it worth running this year? If so, do you know what subjects will be on the agenda?

But to save time and more effort and to give those who were making the effort to attend a chance to do other things I confirm that a decision was taken about 10 mines ago that the Trials Forum was cancelled due to lack of support - again.
We are particularly disappointed for the few who were supportive of it - and we intend to open up some written dialogue back and forth with them so that the issues they were keen to discuss will not be passed over. We will make every effort to work with them on the issues they wish to raise.
Someone asked what was on the agenda - basic answer : anything to do with trials - although as someone else stated the BC has its own forum later.
Certainly those who were going to attend had asked for the following to be placed on agenda and it was:
Risk Assessments, Traditional Trials Championship, Novogar, Youth Championships
Trials section marking , and a few more topics.
Already on agenda by T & E was :
Trials Observing rules for 2009 - Youth & Adult - Especially FIM Observing rules
Insurance - inc RTA cover
Traditional and Sammy Miller Championships – inc Machine eligibility, Number of rounds etc
Novogar ( especially course details) – Eligibility etc
Ladies Champ.
Youth Championships inc possibility of combining with Adult BC
Calendar formation for 2009 - especially Youth dates.
Sidecar Championship – inc debate on combining or not with other events.
Inter Centre Team Trial
Pre 65 Team Trial
Obviously also anything else anyone wished to bring up.

Well I had a phone call this afternoon from Alison at the ACU who said that only eight people had expressed an interest in attending and they only represented FOUR clubs!
We could all be doing something else I'm sure. At least I can help set out our trial for the following day now.
I'm sure lots of people will use the date, location etc to have yet another pop at the ACU but I for one would like to thank the Trials and Enduro Committee for at least offereing us this opportunity again following the similar lack of support in previous years.
Sadly, this sends the message that we are either happy with all things trials or simply can't be bothered.

This doesn't mean that all these topics will be forgotten about, just that we have lost the oportunity to discuss them together.
FIM rules for Youth is very high on our list of discussions, several people will ensure we don't forget this.
Also we are open to any serious sugestions at any time just approach a committee member at an event or get in touch with Mary or Alison in the office
