Good idea. Choose your sport and download required book. No need for all that other scrambling and road racing mumbo jumbo and save some trees. Jobs a good un.
If John Collins is looking in maybe worth bringing up next time you're up there

And remember, it is important that every competitor has the chance to read the rules so that they can sign on to ride an event.
I think it's a fair system, the cd version might suit some people fair enough, but it would mean the Clerk of the Course would have to take a lap top to the event to read it if needed.

I have been told that we are getting CDs unless we ask for a book - does this mean we will get £7.75 back?

And what about the ACU magazine that Englandshire gets (I take it it's still published)?

Scorpa3 is right, club officials need a printed copy to take to events, but most of us could just have a CD. That way we have more trees left to ride trials around :-)

If you are worried about cost of postage/bulk etc easy answer just request CD - which hopefully will replace many books as time goes by. Not so easy though for us to take to an event eg Officials.
Those who suggest splitting all the disciplines up - ie You just get a trial book, road racers get a road race book and so on - have you actually thought /enquired about cost of this about cost - or is it just a comment off top of head? There would still need to be - Sporting Code, Insurance details , Officials, Technical. Anti Doping stipulations - to which you all by law have to comply, Child Protectuion issues - to which by law we all have to apply and so it goes on.
It is very hard to assess all this if you are lucky enough to not have to be involved in any of it.
The FIM books arrive in this fashion - and we have to have about 5 books each .
If you ride - read the declaration you have signed - and then tell me how to protect ACU and its Officials - which are many of us - if you have not access to the Rules and Regulations.
The handbook - and its cost are a necessary contribution to show we are running a responsible and regulated sport - which can be proven to be fair and equitable to those who take part and even more importantly to give protection to those who give up the time to put on events we all enjoy riding in.

I checked today with the SACU office, the handbooks are ready for despatch to the SACU from the ACU suppliers, but the ACU are waiting for a supply of CD's, so they will be with competition licence holders in Scotland shortly.
