Hi all i have just completed registering my 2004 gas gas for the road, you all prob now how to, but just incase someone does not,
My first call was to gas gas to get dating letter to prove it was a 2004 model with the letter they sent me the v55/5 in all filled in which was a real bonus {a bit thank you to Judith at gas gas} which cost £17,
My next call was to get a mot done which has to be done on the frame number which was no problem.
next was Insurance on the frame number, they will only insure on the frame number for 30 days.
Then with all the paperwork off to your local dvla office, mine was chelmsford, thinking i had everthing i now get told they still need to inspect the bike, had to pay for tax and registration £88, booked in a week later, the guy comes out checks seat height, groung clearance, fuel tank must be under 4 litres, frame and engine number, took photos and that was it, yes its passed.
A week later letter and all paper work comes back with reg number, i can now use on road, log book will follow on later.
hope this might help someone
thanks

What's with the fuel tank must be under 4 litres business? I'm not aware of any tank size restrictions on motorcycles.

Im not 100% sure, the chap came out with his clipboard going through all things he has to check then goes on to fuel tank and asked the ammount of fuel it holds, which i found in the handbook, he said if its over 4 litres it will fail, i just took it if it was over 4 litres it would not be classed as a trail bike

Strange - as far as I know there is only one relevant taxation class for registration and that is "bicycle" which covers Lead Wing to Monkey Bike and anything in between.
