Posted Image Hope this works, first pic post!
Added a pic of my C15 as I picked the brains of a few on here whilst trying to build it.
Usual C15 mods, widened the swing arm, altered rear subframe, made a silencer out of a thin wall stainless flue pipe off a gas heater i fitted in a local community centre!Front mudguard bracket was originally a flat sheet aluminium sign `obtained` from my local Enviroment Agency HQ (well they do approve of recycling..) Build taking longer than planned due to get married after 19 yrs with the mrs ( strange as my time seems to have somehow become more limited?)
Dry build now, then when I`m happy will strip it and finish it properly. I won`t be worrying any of the medal winners with my riding, just enjoy the process of building a bike.In fact I`ve never yet ridden a trial! Done Enduro`s on modern stuff but my heart lies in old Brit stuff.
Any constructive comments welcome....

Certainly looks very pretty.
Only comment may be that the stand looks short !

The stand works ok! Bit of a sore point actually, went to local breakers (next to Vale Onslow) bought a stand and a Suzuki kickstart, and after about 10 hrs labour, the 2 actually both work..I could have just bought them but it felt more rewarding to make them fit myself ( I`ll never make a business out of this!)
The stand lets the bike lean over just enough, and works as a knuckle rapper to the unwary as the return spring is a little fierce!

Nice bike. You've managed to get the 'line' of the bike from the bars, through the tank and seat to the rear mudguard to flow nicely. A lot of C15 trials bikes can look a bit unbalanced as the tank sits too high. One thing to watch out for though is that the oil pump cover is maybe extending out beyond the frame tubes and looks as though it could get damaged on rocks.

How have you mounted the kickstart to the C15 shaft, or have you modified the shaft?

What fork sliders and hubs have you used?

Hi Woody,
I plan to put a bash plate of some description on,as you say the oil pump is a little vulnerable. As for the kick start, the solution I found was pretty similar to other posts I`ve seen on here; The Suzuki kick start was grooved but with measuring was found to be quite near the 7/8" of the BSA shaft,so i drilled then reamed it to 7/8",then ground the C15 shaft so that the cotter pin indent was carried on to the end of the shaft( basically a `D`shape). I then filled the kickstart with weld and filed it down so that it was a good fit on the shaft. The kickstart also has a clamp bolt so hopefully should last a while before any more action is needed..
The forks are Betor, the front hub came with them,I think its off a `Can-Am Bombardier`,it looks quite old fashioned,I didnt fit them to give myself a big headstart, but just to give the bike some reasonable suspension on the cheap as I`m sure I won`t be worrying any trophy winners. The hub was drab (army) green but polished up nicely.Rear hub is Rickman, with a Ti spindle and nuts, but dont think I`ll notice the weight gain..

nice bike - may i ask what work is involved in fitting modern fork yokes to the steering head , did you have to machine the bearing races ?
iam a bit of a novice so my knowledge on this is a little limited , and iam struggleing to find helpfull advise .,
i have just aquired a c15 which i would like to upgrade the forks but i do not know where to start.
you seem to have over come the problems iam haveing which has resulted in a good up graded look to your bike .

The forks were easy to fit as the stem is the same diameter, its just slightly longer. The stem is secured to the bottom yolk with a pinch bolt, so just undo it and push it thru further, and make a spacer about 5mm thick to sit under the bearing

HI

interested in your conversion of the kick start ,
may i ask , do you know which model suzuki the kick start came off you used ?
do you think its possible to fit / fabricate the existing bottom cotter pin end piece of the c15 kick start to a more modern replacement folding kick start from another trials bike .

Hi Guy's
Hi Buzz.
Yes I have used a Yamaha 80 pattern kick start, and a Cub cottered stub cut the two and welded them well, and then dressed the weld, you would think it was a made part. BUT this is only as good as the Guy who welds the two parts together,so be warned.

Regards Charlie.

Thats a really nice bike that you have created, any chance of a "peep" at the other side please,? What are the rear units, and what length are they ?.

I can tell that you are clever............cus you have managed to post a photo !.

Happy new year & all the best.

Pat.

Hi Guy's

Hi Pat.

The back shocks look like NJB Trikshocks to me ,the ones with the rose joints, And very good they are.

Regards Charlie.

Posted Image Hi lads, wondered why my ears were burning!

They areTrikshoks, 360mm jobbies..This pic was took before the chain tens went on. I`m finally getting near to finishing bike. Was going well last summer but then my wife became pregnant and my pensioner dad became quite ill. Life just gets in the way sometimes doesn`t it..
Bike`s in bits now for final build, the missus is due in couple of months so its a race against her...she`s always late for anything tho...!

I loaded pic onto `webshots` then back onto here, couldn`t remember how i did last one and `help` topics seem to lead to a dead end?If you click on actual pic ( not header) it goes to webshot version, which can then be blown up if you want a nose at it?

Regarding the kickstart, I`m not sure what Suzi its off (I`d guess 70`s trailie?), will happily take close up pic if any good? I`m new to this game but I thought it easier for meto alter the shaft to suit this kickstart. Like most mods, your own welding abilities, machining capabilities etc
decide which way its best to go

Really nice looking job. Love the tank especially. Got to track me down a set of forks/yokes similar to what you've used.
