Hi people, my first post.
I have been gathering Fantic parts to build myself a cheap and cheerfull 125 / 200 machine. 200 frame, exhaust rear wheel, airbox tank and seat & 125 engine, (bored to 156) front end and other odds and sods. My initial intention was to strip, blast and paint everything and do a nice job. Problem is the missus has me doing DIY and looking after the young daughter + lots of other stuff getting in the way of garage time, not to mention financial constraints.
So rather than spend the next year saving up and buying all the necessary parts and missing the season due to the bike not being complete. I have decided to throw it together and use it as is. Rust and all ! and use my spare time to ride it, rather than restore it. I’ll do that when I do have the time.
I think the only parts I am in need of are a kick starter and plastics. I’ll buy a new kickstarter but the replacement mudguards are a bit over budget & a bit of a waste of money on a dog of a bike. Does the rear mudguard have to be the fantic original of will a £13 universal fit well enough to look the part?
Anyone else ride in the Gloucester area? Is there a good twinshock scene or am I going to need to travel.
