AS ON THE www.zonatrial.net website -

"Ossa presents the TR 280 to the President of the Generalitat, José Montilla. Production will begin in August 2010.
The President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, José Montilla, has wanted to meet Feb. 4 and now first hand, the project of the reborn brand OSSA clover. To do so invited the Palau de la Generalitat for its managers. Joan Gurt, partner and CEO of Ossa Factory, and Alexandre Laplaza, another of the four project partners, were interviewed for an hour with Jose Montilla to present the company direct and teach in the new 280i TR.

To do so, OSSA has moved the prototype of this new bike to the Palau de la Generalitat.

Known for its successes in the world of motorcycling in the '60s and '70s, OSSA Factory has been relaunched after 25 years totally Catalan capital, presenting two business lines: fashion and motorcycle. The great audience response, investment and commitment to the brand have created the institutional interest in the company.

For over two years that the team works to revive Factory OSSA almost simultaneously his new dirt bike, RT 280i and his first menswear collection Vintage Collection. The initiative will create about 100 jobs in Catalonia has been described as very positive by Jose Montilla. The project involves an investment of 6 million euros, and Jordi Laplaza Alexandre Cuxart as major investment partners.

In addition, the President of the Generalitat has been very sensitive to the issue of trial practice and offroad motorcycling in Catalonia. In this sense, Joan Gurt has arisen as a possible solution to any of the U.S. regulatory models or other European countries.

Joan Roma, Director of the Division of OSSA Engine Factory and company partner, today has been also present at the presentation of the prototype of the TR 280i the President of the Generalitat. As executives explained OSSA Jose Montilla, is an innovative prototype trial bike designed by the engineering department of OSSA Factory will prove Marc Colomer, Trial World Champion in 1996 and five times champion of Spain . As is well known, the bike tour with great success in the last edition of the EICMA show in Milan last November.

The TR 280i will begin producing a new hall of 2,000 m2 in Girona, between August and November. The first production will be 1,200 units already sold in its entirety to distributors throughout the world. 75% of these sales were made outside Spain, especially in Europe, Australia and New Zealand through importers. In a second phase during 2011 will be a new edition of 3,000 units with the goal of exceeding the 35% market share in three years of trial.

As progress was made in the meeting today, the OSSA intention is to develop new projects to bring to market two new models of touring bikes in the next three years.

El President Montilla also been interested in the business side of the OSSA, fashion. In this sense, last week presented internationally in the Hall The Brandery of Barcelona's first collection prêt-à-porter men. Vintage Collection is a clear tribute to motorcycle competition and the pilots that shaped the history of OSSA in the 60 and 70.

OSSA is proposed to create two collections a year (spring, summer and autumn-winter) of high quality male parts to be sold in prestigious multi-brand stores.

I'm glad to see things seem to be moving along. I've had several Stilettos and MARs in the past and have fond memories of them.

I am concerned a little, however, about the "high quality male parts to be sold in prestigious multi-brand stores." This is not the
type of company I remember.........:o

Diversification is the thing nowadays but the production of bits for such intimate cosmetic surgery seems to be going a bit far.

There are two types of men in this world:-
1) Those who are Geordies and..
2) Those that want to be.

Not much on the new OSSA for a while

The country of origon, Spain, is one of the PIGS European countries which are under threat with round 2 of the GFC

Just curious. Most economists would agree now is not the best time in Europe to be starting a company manufacturing a liesure product targeted at discretionary spending

Just hope their loans are not up for renegotiation soon
