Put a new Reynolds Primary Chain on my B40 (first one in years, old one didn't seem stretched, but better safe than sorry)
question is, do they stretch initially and need re-tensioned, or is this not generally a problem ?
When fitting it there were dire warnings about using a conventional link rather than endless.
The old chain had a link and was never a problem, any views ?
Where can I get a tool to put chain links in, every cycle chain breaker has this facility, but I've never seen one for larger chains.
Thanks
Ross

the stretch is very minimal, it's the wear on the pins and rollers that causes the adjustment to be made.
as it wears larger pieces of grit can get in, thats why they are ok for a while but as soon as it starts to go you seem to be adjusting it sooner and sooner, until its knackered.
i think
as for the split link never had any problems using them on bikes.
