2008 Scott Trial- Takahisa Fujinami 4th (Winner Ian Austermuhle)
2010 Scottish 6 Day- Albert Cabestany 9th (Winner Alex Wigg)
Proof (If needed) that current world trials are going in the wrong direction.
OK Dougie would have won this years Scottish but you get my point.
The above results are far more interesting than the current world trial results, and I bet the events are too.
How about this for a world trial "Template"
- 50 Sections
- 50 Miles
- 1 Lap
- 4 Petrol Stops
- 10 Miles / 10 Sections Between Stops
- 5 Time Check's (4 Petrol Stops and the End)
- No Minders
- No Intercoms
- No Outside Assistance, major parts of the bike marked
OK I know Adam & Tony etc. will have their minders entered with them but a TRUE BALLOT and 5 time checks will make it difficult for them.
OH, and sections to suit.
Entries would surely rocket!!!!!!!!!

Possibly the worst idea ever....
1: spectators want to see the action and not travel 50 miles round
2: how do the organisers manage and charge for the event
Not to mention probably hundreds of other reasons why that wont happen.
World trials used to be over larger circuits and have road work etc etc, but as above its a pain to watch and brings in zero money to the sport

'brings money into the sport'' ?? other than providing a comfortable income for the 6 half dozen riders at the top what income does the sport of trials get.. i dont remember my club having thier cheque yet.
50 miles to far for spectators to travel? al those sheep lining the sections in scotland why were they there?
for the world championship to be legitimate and to capture the imagination and interest of the public it must change and use national 'classic ' events such as the scottish. reeth 3 day, Scott etc then a rider truely could stand up and say i am the best trails rider in the owrld and my bikes the best in the world
at the moment we have a worlds champion who can boast of riding the most expensive trials bike in the world up rocks that Chris Bonnington would blanch at

You're wrong, Dougie won the 2008 Scott, Ian Austermuhle was 3rd.
Also Dougie could have won this years SSDT but he didn't, if's & but's don't count. You can't back a horse after it's won, the bookies don't pay out.
Also the Reeth 3 Day isn't a National, never has been & I doubt it ever will be. I'm not the only one who would cease giving my time & effort into both the 3 Day & the Scott if they were to become anything else other than what they are now. World rounds, like them or loath them, went down a non returnable path many years ago, they'll never be like Traditional Trials.

You forgot to say that bikes should weigh at least 300lbs,have 4 ply tires and riders must wear Barbour suits and cork crash helmets

Graham Jarvis won the Scott in 2008, Doug's bike gave up before he got to Underbanks.
There is no way that the WTC will ever return to how it was years ago and there is no way the SSDT or Scott would ever be a round because the foreigners would boycott it. I rode round with Cabes all week in Scotland and he said that it was not possible to ride the sections properly because he was knackered when he got to them due to the fact that they train to ride for 1 minute very intensely as per WTC rules. I watched Doug ride a few sections and if the SSDT and Scott were part of the WTC he would still be world champ without any doubt. His clean on WD's on Friday was nothing short of stunning.

Sorry, you are right, all the years merge into one at times, I forgot that Doug didn't turn up last year.
