1st Mot - What Does The Bike Need?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi.

My bike is coming up to 3 years old and will shortly need its first MOT.

Can someone please advise what I need to pass the MOT??

Do I need working lights, brake light? (god I hope not as all wiring stripped when bike was new) If so, is there a simple and quick fix to pressing the pedal and making the brake light work??

Obviously need a horn but can strap one on no problems

Ta muchly

As far as I am aware all you need for the MOT is a continuous tone horn and a reflector on number plate (sticky on one is OK)

Any lights that are on the bike need to work (not sure if you can tape them out).

To be road legal you also need a speedo (not an MOT requirement).

Always best to make sure your MOT tester is au fait with competition bikes.

I had XT250 that got an MOT with no lights at all and a battery operated horn. I used a cheap mountain bike speedo

from Halfords that cost around a tenner.

Hope this helps
