Sounds like wheel bearings need to be replaced.

Not sure about spacers in Mont. With the front wheel off the ground, hold wheel firmly at 12.00 and 6.00 o'clock. Try to rock the wheel from side to side and check where the movement/knock is coming from. A missing spacer would allow the wheel to move along the axle (with the brake caliper removed), rather than rattle on the axle.

just checked it as you said and seems as if the bearing is fine, it moves from left to right on the spindle about 4mm

Had quick look at Mont manual. You should have a collar/spacer on the outside of each wheel bearing, and a drive on right side for the speedo cable. If these are all in place my next move would be to have a look at another 315R to "spot the difference."

ahhhhhh that must be it
there is only one spacer on and nothing on the right hand side, so must be a spacer and drive missing. . . . might sound daft question but would i still need to put a "drive" on even though its only for offroad?? think i will have to ring sanderfords up and see if i can get the part ordered there........ cheers soo far buddy great help !!

You need the missing collar but most riders will replace the drive unit with a short machined cylinder spacer. Dealer may have a kit to replace the drive unit or any machine shop will knock one out for you. Good luck.
