This forum has been added at the request of users to post comments on Trials you have ridden or give advice on upcoming Trials to other users. It's very much a test forum to see how things go.
What this forum is for is to give personal opinions of Trials you have ridden and guidance on upcoming Trials to others so they can judge if it will be suitable for them or not.
It is NOT an open forum to insult or slag off the organisers of a Trial. We know how much work goes into organising a Trial and how many people put effort into making it happen and we will NOT allow their hard work to be belittled. People complaining with offering no constructive comment will have their posts deleted and will ultimately be banned if they continue to do so.
Criticism must be constructive. Don't put down a Trial unless you can make positive suggestions for improvements. If you can't, then say nothing!

Absolutely right Andy. It is very easy to "have a go" at an event and this ultimately places the club and the workers in the firing line.
Remember, this is a sport, the guys that go on to the hill and lay out the event on the ground are the real unsung "heroes", not the competitors who pay the money, ride and go home again.
Sure I'm all for value for money but remember this... these people are unpaid volunteers, hack them off badly once and they won't come back, then we won't have events - simple as that.
Think about this: It's simple to stand back and offer advice, without getting your hands dirty! I've done that myself when I was younger and realised just how damaging comments can be - and paid the price as well!
Proceed with care and consider your comments very carefully before pushing that submit button!
In fact, take a bit of time after an event before posting anything, don't do it on Sunday night, when you've just come home, when you should be washing the bike!
Yours in sport...
Big John

Possibly a good starting point, would be to clarify the exclusion policy operated in the pre-65 Scottish, pertaining to unit machines? Had a talk on the phone yesterday with someone who was genuinely confused, regarding this, and was making strenous efforts to build a Cub, which would somehow comply with these mysterious requirements!

Well said big john
I've spent my first 2 years of trials riding here in Hong Kong...where there is (if we are lucky!!) one event a month...and then its always at the same one or two places.
I cant tell you how excited I am at the prospect of moving back to UK..(soonish) and at least having the chance of doing more regular events.
SO...my point is..(getting there slowly)
OK..give credit where its due, and maybe some gentle advice etc where possible....BUT remember...if these wonderfull people giving their free time to organise these events get fed up, then they wont do it anymore. PERIOD...as I believe they would say on the other side of the pond.
THere...thats my two penneth worth!..look after what you're got!

I liked the approach taken to criticism by our previous club secretary, if you have any criticism, come and show us how it should be done, i.e. don't talk about it, do it!

No reason at all that this forum can't be used to thank organisers for an event well run. However, I'd rather see that kind of praise in the user comments on the front page of the site attached to an article containing results. Far higher profile
