Does anyone know of a good cheap insurer.

I now have a ciroen relay mwb, and would like a better quote than £650 - which I got from the meerkat.
I will be using it as my everyday vehicle, but not business use.

Cheers,
Andy.

No excuses now....I will be seeing you this year !!! yippee !!!

Give Commercial Vehicle Direct in Bristol, always come up with correct cover.

Word of caution, van insurance has gone up this year, even with another years' no claims my wee van (Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDi 2.0) the premium is £76 higher than last year, and I tried everywhere!

I do have a 22 year old on the policy which doesn't help!

I've used C.V.D for the last ten years and have been fine,

I've been with them for a few years and last year's quote was ridiculous, increased by about £200 to over £500, no change in my details so no specific reason. I looked on Go Compare (or something) and got a quote from E-Van for just over £300. Told CVD I wasn't renewing. Turned out E-Van are their sister company, the quotes should be the same and had I given the same details? I politely suggested they get on Go Compare and put my details in themselves! They weren't happy at being undercut and even though they insisted their renewal quote was the correct price they didn't want to let the business go to their sister company so they matched it. So on the one hand they're telling me the best they can do is over £500 but on the other, they let me have it for £300. Really peed me off that once again I had to do all the donkey work to get a decent premium and just reminded yet again, as if I needed reminding, how we get rpped off.

My renewal is due in about 3 weeks so I'll be interested to know what it will be this time.

I was with Co-op (CIS) for many years and their premiums were good. One year I needed the NCD from my van to put on a car policy so I asked them to send me a letter confirming my NCD and adjust my premium. They said to do that they would have to cancel my policy and generate a new quote/policy. I said seems a bit daft but whatever. They then told me that they were unable to insure me as I had an endorsement (SP30 so fairly normal...) In disbelief I said I know and you know I have an SP30 as I've had it 3 years. They said it was ok whilst I was a current customer but they don't accept anyone for new business with endorsements... Even though I was a current customer of 7 or 8 years standing, because they wanted to re-quote me meant I was a new customer, so they couldn't insure me. If I left my policy as it was there was no problem... Priceless..!!

Just ran last year's quote again on Go Compare. Cheapest is E-Van but it has gone up from £308 to £358

Next one is £388 and next £399, rest are all over £400...

For an 11 year old rusty 312D LWB Sprinter worth about £1k. Full NCD and nearly 52 years old.

Nice to see we're all paying towards the compensation payouts of the 'how much can I claim for being a clumsy **** brigade'

i was with er-van last tear but if you need to talk to them on the phone cos your computer illiterate like me it costs you £1 per minute which irritated me a bit! now paying £730ish with my 21 year old daughter on and that was £200 cheaper than the nearest quote, mind you it's cheap compared to the quotes my 17yr old lad is getting £2800 for a 1000cc lupo

This does not surprise me, the insurance trade press has been warning of van insurance premiums of up to 35% increases for the last 6 months!

Yes, that can be just one of the problems of taking the cheapest quote. What you save in premium you can easily lose elsewhere if you ever need to call on their services, you can find yourself in big trouble.

I wouldn't actually have gone with E-van last year, but luckily the threat of it made CVD 'adjust' their premium. I was going to get a quote off my car insurer instead but in the end didn't need to. We'll see this time around.

My car insurance is up on the same day as the van and I've already had the quote on that. Impreza, group 17 and it's cheaper than last year's original van quote. Just no reasoning to vehicle insurance.

car and van insurance on the same day OUCH !! insurance seems to be a legalised form of robbery sometimes, prices go up across the board and there's nothing you can do about it cos they've got you by the short & curlies, "thats the price take it or leave it"
