I have just had my 2010 Beta Evo 250 4T (4 stroke engine) stolen from the front of my house in Banchory, Scotland. Nothing unusual about it, apart from a 10mm hole drilled in the rear mud guard which I used to attach the reg plate.

Frame number is ZD3T6020090400110

Any info greatly appreciated!

My bike has miraculously made it back into my garage, without the assistance of the local police force. The bike was spotted by a local club member and he went way beyond the call of duty to find out where they lived. I told the police that we knew where the bike was and who had it. They said they'd try to get back to me on the 25th July when the responsible officer returned from vacation!

To cut a long story short, we decided to go visit the new "owners" and confront them with my registration document. Amazingly, they resigned themselves to the facts and let me take the bike back home without resistance. They said they'd bought the bike from Gumtree, which may be true, but I suspect they were involved in the theft directly. Because the police are not interested, the person(s) that stole the bike will never be found. I'm fairly sure these guys will be looking out for a replacement so keep yours well and truly locked away!

Big thanks to Dave from the Bon Accord Motorcycle Club for all his efforts and assistance.

To the Grampian Police Force - please remind me why we pay taxes???

I think you should drop a line to your MP, giving all the details of the theft and the Police station and officers involved. Tell them why you decided not to wait until the 25/7/11 and what you think of the local Police service (or lack of it) :0(. I can understand the Police not being able to give it's undevided attention to find your bike, if they didn't have any evidence, but when you give them the address of the scum bag that nicked it, with the bike on their premises, you'd think they'd be straight around there, cleaning up on a crime, so they can add it to the succeses, not the ones they failed on.
To stop, or not to stop, that is the question ;0)

That's woeful of the police's behalf, if that's true. Glad you got your bike back! Chains and insurance are the only way to go these days...

cheers

Personally I would write a letter to the Chief Constable ( recorded delivery ), demanding to know why, when given the address of a thief who was known to have YOUR property ,the Police Officer did absolutely nothing !!
I would also mention in your letter that if you don't get a satisfactory reply, you will then send a copy of your letter stating the Chief Constables reluctance to ensure his officers do the job for which they are paid , to his boss who is the Home Secretary .

This attitude of some Police Officers stinks !! Sometimes it seems it is to much trouble or not 'sexy' enough to warrant an investigation .
If it aint broke, fix it till it is !!!

I was told to get in shape, I am in shape, Round is a shape !!

Personnaly, I think this was the easiest solution...

If the police would have paid them a visit, and they could show some (fake??) paperwork that they bought it. There was nothing they could do! On a second visit the bike would have been gone forever and a day...

Modern life as it is, nowadays...
