Briliant machine, I suspect parts for these and the merlins are hard to get outside of spain

Eddy,

We have to adapt, alter and match from other bikes. Theres no shops selling parts for sure, other than plugs, but ive never come across an insummountable problem given reasonable funds. You have to buy a complete bike and give yourself a good head start. Everything can be restored with time. Crank pins and bearings can be bought and a new owner has recently found out a likely piston match , so thats very hopeful.
To be honest i cant think of any component that couldnt be mended ,repaired bought or replicated.

Wonderful Bike... and now the name is re-born with Mecatecno Kids Electric Bikes.
I'm very excited to be involved.

Do you know if they plan on doing anything other than just electric bikes? I'd love to see them make a comeback, plus make parts for their older stuff too.

Juan Ruiz and Rabasa designed the engine from nothing using their experience from Derbi. It cost them a small fortune to develop and have made.

I'm surprised that a guy like Ruiz didn't realise the costs of development. Having started a dev company it's alarming to see cash disappearing down a very big, dark hole. I'm sure Atom Ant will back me up on this.

Nonetheless excellent job. Kudos.

Trials31.
The electric bike Mecatecno have nothing whatsoever to do with the original company so there isn't a cat in hells chance parts for them making parts for the older bikes.
The new company are just using the same name.

Ruiz didn't run Mecatecno. He was employed as the chief engineer at the company. Rabasa owned and ran the company and he wasn't an engineer,he was a competition manager.

It was Rabasa that wanted his own design of engine, not Ruiz.

Ruiz always thought , this is huge , but the boss wanted the make his own engine, that could be adapted for motocross and enduro as well , should. The need arise.

The engine was a drain , but NOT the main reason the company died.
