Hi Guys, I am looking for some advice about putting bikes into long term storage, I have a mixture of trials bikes and old road bikes.

Obviously I will drain the petrol but is it better to drain the oil and replace with fresh oil or just drain the oil completely and not replace.4

Any help appreciated.

Eddy,

Ive read that you 20psi in the tyres and take the load off the tyres(put on a stand)

Place a tablespoon of oil down the plug hole.

Drain the petrol and carb

Lube the cables

Clean the filter of all oil as they deteriate with oil on them.

Buy those cheap polythene dust covers and cover the bike competely. Then cover with a sheet to protect from UV.

Duck oil all metal parts , but not the rubber as oil deteriates rubber.

Most important of all - lock it to the floor and alarm it.

Theres probably more

saw my buddies Kawasaki 500 triple set for about 10yrs.... it was setup for road racing and he had pulled the cylinders to fill up crankcase area... we double checked vacuum and pressure, no leaks! I know I know! couldn't believe the center seal was still good.

anybody else fill up their 2 strokes this way for bottom end security? rebuttal?
