Hi fellas, It's been a while since my last post but I have finally started the refurb. of my 79/80 Cota 349 (it's only been sitting in the garage for 20months, not bad in my book). Everything has been straight forward so far however, I'm splitting the cases to replace all the bearings and seals but having trouble removing the clutch drive gear (the one on the crank shaft). I have the flywheel and clutch off and it looks as though some heat has been applied to the crank shaft in the past. There are no signs of damage or repairs to the crank, it all looks good. So is applying a little heat to the gear the trick to getting it off? I am a little nervous of applying brute force and ignorance as I have seen pictures and read tales of woe regarding 349 crankshafts and flywheels.
Any help would be muchly appreciated.
Thanks
Andrew
Done it! A little tension in the pullers and some gentle heat and it popped straight off.
