Splashed oot last week and bought an Electrex World ignition for Alf.Fitted it and

it started fine but the carburation seems miles out.The bike ran fine on points and

pulled cleanly from the bottom end now it coughs quite abit and throttle response

isn't that sharp. The plug is sooty and before ignition was a nice brown colour. The carb

is brand new from Amal and as I said ran perfectly before the ignition. The exhaust

isn't clean and the bike smells rich and on the over run sometimes spits oot blue flames.

I set up the timing using a degree disc(rupert ratio book). The carb is running a 110 main

jet could any one please advise me on jetting or ignition timing any help would be much

appreciated as I have entered Alvie which isn't far away.

cheers the noo Brian

Hey Broony,

seems kinda odd that carbie was fine before and with lecky sparx is not. I would say there's somtehing amiss with the new spark set up.....or your float is jammed and flooding the motor????

Good Luck.

Hi Ross, rechecked the timing as per instructions.Found a Dutch website

that sells the same ignition(think they import them into Britian through

Electrex World),and followed their set up instructions. The timing was out

about 10 degrees. The bike runs alot better carburation needs a tweak

(don't want to upset the neighbours).Seen the entry list for Alvie looks

mega.

Ross any chance you could bring your adapter to Alvie so I can check

the float height(I checked it and it was too high and set it but didn't

have an adapter so done it using the fuel tap and checked when the

needle switched off).

Hi, I had a similar thing with my B40 a few years ago, running Boyer Bransden the engine ran quite well, fitted PVL system and it was transformed. Weakened the mixture a little and it got better. I don't know much about Electrex world, but I can recommend PVL, proper hot spark from kicking speed upwards. Dave

Bashplate, the reason the picture is soooo small is the original

photo was from somewhere else. The original photo is alot bigger

and shows my scorecard hanging from the number board (not a nice

straight line on the left hand side-more of a zig zag :D )

cheers the noo Brian
