I was wondering if there was a dealer who specialised in Aprilia parts in the UK. I don't need many spares at the moment but a dealer who could help is always a bonus.

Thanks in advance because I know you all have a wealth of knowledge.

My dad has a climber in UK, and we have got quite a few parts for it before at BVM moto.......ALSO...if you need any engine work doing, or engine internals there is a guy in BATH (I think) that calls himself the Rotax man.
I bought an ENGINE manual off him, and he has very reasonable rates to work on that engine. He also has all the parts and is Rotax trained. He is also a very helpfull guy. He does have a website, but cant remember the exact name.
If you go to google and search its something like "Peter Knight" or maybe "Powersports" sorry cant remember.
If you find it, please post a link on here. I dont know how to do the link thing..but it would be usefull. I know there are a few CLimber owners get on here,...that really should know about Peter Knight..
Good luck :) ;)

Richard

My mate bought the remaining Aprilia stock from BVM a few months ago, he has a few bits left for sale... contact Pete Culliford 01454 227373

Alternatively Malcolm Rathmell imported Aprilias for years, I was talking to him recently and he still has large stocks of Rotax spares available 01423 772885

Apologies for jumping in here but it is about an Aprilia climber.

Without wanting to sound like too much of a numpty, could you tell me what ratio fuel mix you run your climber on please?

I've just bought one but no manual and the guy reckoned he used 25:1 which sounds a bit rich to me! Any other info would be greatly appreciated as well, ie. what engine/gearbox oil to use, a wiring diagram for the lights, what brake fluid to use, anything really! I'd quite happily pay for a copy of your manual if you have one.

Many thanks,

Roy (getting down to his last drops of fuel in the tank) :(

Hi Roy,.
I think my dad has always used 70:1 on his Aprilia without any problems...but if you want a more reliable answer, you should contact the guy I was talking about, (about 3 posts above this one)...and craftypiggy posted his address etc. He is a VERY good source of info for the Rotax engines :(

No worries.
If your Aprilia is as noisy as my dads one then it certainly WILL upset the neighbours.
Still..they've got plenty of grunt, to get you away in a hurry if they start throwing things at you :(

Yep i run my the aprilia the same 70:1, i also use 98 octane fuel as well, found it gives a bit better reponse, 98 octane is the blue pumps.
For the sake of a few pence it helps.

Thanks guys,

Off to get a few bits and some fuel tomorrow :(

I've gotten used to buying super unleaded for the car but they've just closed the local Texaco and the next station that sells SUL is a 15 mile round trip. Does it make that much difference on the higher octane and if so is it alright to use an octane booster (use it in the car if i get caught between SUL pumps) with 2 stroke mix?

70:1 sounds very lean but i'm happy to trust you guys. I think my old Fantics took a 50:1 mix, how come they run so lean these days?

Roy.

Water cooled motors run alot cooler needing less oil!
Air cooled motors run alot hottor needing more oil!

Also oils these days are alot better advanced than they were years ago.
