Can anybody recommend a decent chain breaker/riveting tool.
Motrax do one for £30, but have heard they are not the best and Whale is a better choice, but it comes in at about £80.
Has anyone had worked with any of these ones, or any others to recommend?

I have used a WHALE chain cutting and riveting tool for thirty years, for trade purposes. It is by far the best value for money, the cheap one shown on e-bay last no tine at all. Remember also you will always be able to sell the whale cutter second hand, making it even cheaper.

thanks for the info on the whale tool rossy.
i see the cheaper ones do not rivet and i would need that option also as i have another bigger trail bike to service
everyone likes a good deal, but i like to have tools that are up to the job and as we all know, cheaper is not normally value for money, although it may do the job a couple of times.
i will need to do a search and see what i can find at a good deal.

i see you get a smaller whale one, CBRT5008 for about £75 and the bigger one, BCECBT480-RVT with the handle is about £125
Smaller one seems to have more "bits" with it, but says its for soft links only.
Would both of these cover most chain types, as i think, is it the DID chain link that flares rather than rivet, so what type would be the best allrounder?????

Buy a cheap grinder for the more stubborn rivets.
