hi ! i,ve just got my step son a 2004 sherco 125 and i want to wire in a kill switch can anyone tell me which wire i connect to.

thanks

There should be a stand alone short wire that comes off the CDI/coil unit as I recall. This is the one you want to connect to with a two wire kill button. Other end of the kill button going to an earth point to the frame.

On the later models the wire is black. Cannot recall on that year as I have slept since.

If you have troubles, post up a pic to refresh my memory. If you are removing factory switch pod and wireing, you will need jumper lead for fan wireing as well. Readily available.

Though I'd post here rather than starting a new thread. 05 125 with a lenolli mag kill switc. It packed up on me at the last trial(p****** down with rain.

I don't belive the switch is at fault. Cam hear it switching when the magnet is close. Traced it back to the connector under the number board and cleaned all the contacts up. Still nothing.. Plugged 2 wires into the connectors as per the kill switch and completed the circuit. Still won't kill the engine.

Any ideas where I should look next lads

Was wired black to black and brown (kill switch) to yellow (bike)

Let me have a look at mine when I get home in the morning, pretty sure I'm plugged into a wire coming off the coil with other going to earth screw beside coil etc

Have a photo of the wiring in my Photobucket account but haven't worked out how to post from my phone

That's how I assumed it would be and I'm just about to test it like that.

The black wire should be coming from the coil I've no idea why it was plugged into the yellow and for that matter how it was even killing the engine previously as the yellow should be a live feed. il post back after testing. Was too late to try last night.

Multitude of factors. Spade connectors within the connector module were a little slack and not making a solid connection. Black wire from the coil had broken inside a rubber sleave under tank and water had gotten into the switch and gone scummy over the plate.

For the record one side of kill switch connected to black. And either yellow or earth the other side killed the spark.

Are you using the standard switchblock still or have you removed it & the wiring for the lights?

If you are running a kill button & the short race loom then have a look through the following link for installation instructions in photo form which will show you which wire goes where

The standard switchblocks are still in place however I used the diagrams you linked to troubleshoot. All cleaned and watertight now. Not sure exactly how that black cable was broken. Maybe pinched between the tank and frame but highly unlikely considering it's position. Fixed now so no sleep lost. Front shocks working lovely after fresh oil. Back ends got a lot more pop after its service. Kill switch works. Ready for a good ride Sunday. :)
