simples..

i'm sure its been laid down elsewhere on the site but here goes

1. get bike MOt'd on frame number..(20- 30 quid)

2. get bike insured on frame number..( 80-300 quid)

3. get certificate proving age from sandifords or other montesa importer

(30 quid?)

4. get down your local dvla centre ( on dvla site) join queue and wait.. fill in form whilst waiting..( times FREE)

5. they ll go through form and make an appointment for someone to view bike and ask for about 80 quid registration fees etc..

6 some chap with no idea ( maybe a copper) will come and check numbers match those on form ( he ll also probably say he's never seen one before how fast does it go etc.)

7 reg number follows in post..

As above plus.......

The form you need from the DVLA is a V55/5

link for more details here as you need all sorts of I.D. such as utility bills, passport, driving licence or your waste the trip....

I think the reg fee is £55 then £30 ish for the first years road tax.....

cheers guys

so it should cost about 150 just for paperwork then...someone told him Sandiford closed 2 year ago and you cant get a certificate?

have looked at the bike and the boy says its a 2001 but i have seen on the montesa forum that if the frame number ends with a V after VTDMTO3AO its a 1997 but it does have and inboard rear brake caliper

bikes in fair condition and he wants £1000 for it.....is that ok ish? as i would still need to add the reg

cheers...

Guest tobeee

Sounds a lot of money for a bike that age. I'd be looking at at least 2004 for £1000, and there should be deals available for all makes at that price.

thank for that tobeee

i was thinking myself it was a bit much for one of that year.

it gets better though...i looked at it and checked the frame number with the information on this site and it show the bike to be a 1997 and not a 2001 as the guy had said.

i dont know much about them so i better read up more to make sure what i am buying.

just want something for hills/ pottering about and maybe the odd club trial.....not seen much about and the ones that are for sale seem to be asking a bit much.
