I have a TLM 50 road registered, that and the fantic 50 would come out the factory lighted up.

I would imagine you would need to find some road legal tyres to put on and then get onto the right people to get it registered.

If the chinks can get there bikes they send us road registered i would imagine you could get anything reg'd.

Lights are an irrelevance and a speedo is easily fitted (I think a 50 now could need one, unlike a few years ago) but you need to get the paperwork from the importer? I reckon it won't exist as there is probably no intention for these to be registered, unlike the 125s and up. Best bet is to speak to the importer of whatever you are thinking of. As I recall the TLM 50, in typical Honda manner, was equipped more for road use than for schoolboy trials so would have had the necessary docs.

Oh yes, the Paul Edmondson bike was a 50, officially a moped as he was only 16. Someone else (I think Steve Colley) rode a Gas Gas 50, as I recall, the same year for the same reason. But I'm happy to be corrected if someone else has a better memory, or a programme.

As I know and have done so, 50cc and 80 cc bikes where often registrated in Germany as Moped or light weight motorcycles. I had a 50cc Italjet which was also road registered as a moped.

If this wasn't so commen in the U.K. you might consider to get a bike from France, Benelux or Germany as there 50 and 80cc bikes show regulary up with road registration papers. When a bike was registrated once in the EU you have the right to get it registrated in your homecountry too. Still some paperwork to do, (in own experience as I have self imported two bikes from Italy), but less paperwork and hassle then trying to get a "paperless" bike road registrated.

I think here is information about the self import and roadregistration of vehicles in the UK: http://www.justlanded.com/english/UK/Articles/Visas-Permits/Vehicles
