There were a few nice Bultacos, but one in particular stood out, rebuilt by Vazquez in Spain. Did anyone else see the superb airbox and side panels on it? A work of art, but where on earth can I get some? I've trawled the web and found the site (motosvasquez.com - well worth a look) but my total lack of Spanish isn't helping me to get in touch with them. I am going to email them in the hope that they understand English, but any further suggestions would be gratefully received thanks. I could be wrong.... It looked well prepared but not much by way of mods (although the card said frame mods - maybe tighter steeting head?). I did really like the 199b on the Scott Trial stand with the lovely alloy swingarm (see link to my pics). They'd moved the pivot forward and made a new box section alloy arm (longer than standard). woody Posted February 22, 2014 Report Share Posted February 22, 2014 Vazquez doesn't speak English The airbox is from the earlier 325 models from '76, '77. The works riders used to replace the airbox on the last red model and blue models with that airbox as they felt it provided a better airflow. sherpa325 Posted February 23, 2014 Report Share Posted February 23, 2014 I have two earlier style airboxes, they are from models 159,183,191 - years 1975 to 1977. I was lucky enough to find an original airbox which I removed the sidepanels from and then made a second airbox using the first as a mould. I then made moulds of the original sidepanels and made four new 'blue' sidepanels. I found a dye for the gelcoat that was identical to the bultaco blue, so if I scratch or wear through the paint you see blue not red! I know this sounds like a lot of work, but it was relatively cheap and easy to do, just a little time consuming. Also beware the 250 airboxes, at first glance, look the same but have different sidepanels that to me are not quite as attractive as the 325 ones. I don't know if anyone would make these airboxes as they are very durable and easily repaired if damaged unlike the latter plastic ones. pschrauber Posted March 8, 2014 Report Share Posted March 8, 2014 As stated I just got an OEM 159 air box for a member in the UK, as he asked me to get it for him. The box is original but a little bit used, the side panel is original and unused, the foam, grill and bolts are replicas ... The complete 159 airbox seems to be a little bit heavier then the 199b type? To the inner dimensions of the air box and so to the air flow I can't see an advantage on first spot if you ask me. I will compare it in weight in diameter as I have loose 199b airbox somewhere lying around ... (just can't remember in which cardbox). Surly it changes the apperance to a 199A or 199B when mounted to them and air filter change is much easier done too, so in case of service much better !!! 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
