Gear can be relatively simple.

Open face helmet, trials specific boots and gloves are all the essentials.

I have used Alpinestars MX pants in winter but prefer trials lycra for most of the year. (By the way Wulfsport is cheap and good enough).

I personally use a long sleeve shirt but that up to you.

Most of all enjoy, its not what you look like!

Is it not a ACU requirement to have long sleeves. Was back in 90`s as a steward pulled me up in summer for wearing a tee shirt, so i borrowed a mates wool jumper.

Boots: Alpinestars no stop Black or White if your vain and a superstar.

Helmet: Airoh or Hebo

Clothing: Hebo, Clice, or Mots

This is only my opinion as there is Jitsie and many more. Mountain bike gear is often used as i have a very light weight breathable waterproof jacket

I wouldnt go with Motorcycle matching gear ie GasGas or Beta in case you change bike, as like me years ago bought it all new to find i hated the bike id bought. Fantic 245.

FWIW, I'm an enduro rider switching to do some trials. I'll suddenly look like a bit of a clod, but aside from some Sidi trials boots for better feel, all my gear is basically staying the same: full face helmet, Fox integrated body armor, Klim armored spandex under my normal Klim pants.

Like I said, I look a bit of a clod, but I've never had issues seeing with a full face and I like a Snell certified lid on my mellon. I've had enough nasty crashes to appreciate a good helmet. Same with the armor. It gives me incentive to stay in good shape.
